This book was ok. It dragged on a little too long and became tedious at the end. 🤷♀️
pickThis was a phenomenally written historical account of the Chanel sisters! It‘s based on facts, and then the gaps are filled in with fiction, making it totally intriguing.
pickIt was intriguing to read about Coco's life. How her trailblazing path to/through fashion started with her making hats. The bond her and her sister had was full of love with a sprinkle of tension. The fight in Coco to succeed was inspiring. My only issue was the pace...too slow for me.

Their early life at the convent is still my favorite part of the book.
Narration made it feel like Antoinette (Coco‘s younger sister) was telling me the story. True story told in linear novel format.
I‘d never have guessed that Coco wanted to be more of a socialite but Antoinette steered her towards HATS! It all started with hats! Coco spoke her mind without regret while Antoinette did a lot of apologizing 😝

Even better than Little‘s debut novel, White Hall, which was a masterpiece in itself, this story holds a bit of scandal and intrigue that has you routing for the women‘s suffrage movement. pickThe Chanel Sisters is fascinating. Antoinette and Gabrielle had a lot of struggles in their lives, which made me very invested in this story from the beginning. Little described Antoinette and Gabrielle‘s struggles in a way that was interesting and not depressing.

Rags to riches story of Coco Chanel. This takes the sisters, Antoinette & Gabrielle (Coco) from their young lives in a convent orphanage to Paris.
I didn‘t know their was a sister. Antoinette was fascinating! Impeccably researched book that immerses you in their lives. The author describes the WWI era settings in amazing rich detail! I laughed I cried.
2020‘s #1 Historical fiction book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

All of the characters in The Chanel Sisters were unique and interesting. The Chanel Sisters covered a very long period of time, but didn‘t drag at all or skip important events. I was delighted to read a book that told the story of Chanel from the point of view of the unknown sister Antoinette . The story begins with their life in the convent where they grew up. Ninette actually is an integral part of Coco's rise to fame. She worked in the hat shop, where she developed the expertise for making hats, ⤵️
