pickI love what Alexander did with this book, as there was more depth and growth to Taran and Co. in this book, as most of the book is their journey to rescue Eilonwy, he takes the chance to showcase them in a way that offers growth through conversation, highlighting that titles and status is unimportant as it's the heart of the person that matters.

so-soSo far my least favorite of the series. I thought I was gonna get a nice story centered around Eilonwy and instead got Taran running around the forest for majority of the book and her being nonexistent in the whole story until the end when she does appear and her will is completely stripped of her, zero signs of that strong willed girl from the two earlier books. Just a let down to be honest.
I love these books so much. I wish I had a niece or a nephew I could gift the whole set to for Christmas!

pickThe Castle or Llyr by Lloyd Alexander published in 1966 tells a story of a Princess. The Princess has to leave her home and all her friends to be trained to be a proper lady.

pickBook 3 of the chronicles of Prydain teases the reader with backstory knowledge of one of the main characters, but never really delivers with any gusto. We learn enough to add the shallowest amount of depth, but that's all. That said, this is a wonderful adventure story that indeed adds go the overall scope of the overarching tale.
