I really struggled with this one (and so did my IRL book club). The characters, especially Sarah‘s twin sister Emily, are unlikeable. Cozy mysteries are not typically known for strong plot lines, but this one seemed even more scattered than most. I liked RahRah the cat! To say my reading has been erratic and at times nonexistent the last few months is an understatement, and yet I persevere and start more books! 😂

Gaskell‘s writing is amazing, and thanks to #HashtagBrigade I can finally move Wives and Daughters to the “currently reading” stack.

Br. Eadulf & Fidelma of Cashel are enroute to meet up with a childhood friend of Eadulf‘s,Br.Botulf,who is at Aldred‘s Abbey.When they arrive,they find Br.Botulf has been murdered.Ghosts lurk in the Abbey, & the evil murderer of men,the Abbott Ciln,is terrified of them.He is slowly going insane by the hauntings.
Em is not impressed with this tale.I found Eadulf to be rather unlikable-he was grouchy, irritable,arrogant.

No meme because #TomKitten joined in today to inspect the reading and gave a look which exactly sums up my feelings about the General. The man himself arranges a trip to Woodston to show it off for Catherine but is so domineering that she has no idea what to say, lest she risk his wrath. He also puts down the village, the landscape, and the house itself at every turn and she can't politely contradict him, so really, General, just stfu please. 🙄
