In Blackwood, VT, there is one local legend above all: that of the Blackwood Hospital that burned down in 1953 & the several unaccounted bodies in the aftermath including Benny Rose. Gabrielle is new to Blackwood & a group of fellow classmates invite themselves over to her house on Halloween. As their new classmate, the group of friends decides to prank Gabrielle with stories about Benny Rose. Things go sideways quickly. This has been (CONT)

vivastory described online as a Freddy Kreuger retelling. There are def nods to Nightmare On Elm St, but I think it's a stretch to call it Nightmare On Elm St fanfic. I have had Piper on my TBR for years & am glad to have finally read this. Easily one of the best entries in the Rewind Or Die series. A relentless story with some great Final Girl energy. 10mo
Bookzombie This was really good and I agree that it‘s a stretch to call it Nightmare On Elm Street fan fiction. 10mo
Reggie I‘m more of the mind that it‘s an homage to Halloween and Michael Meyers. Also, there was something that hit me in the pit of my stomach when those girl ate him in the end. Like you have all these adult and it takes these girls to end it. Also props to the hammer fight. I swear I heard the Let the bodies hit the floor song when I read that part. Glad you liked it. 10mo

Reggie lol So I watched the trailer for Maxxxine. The new movie from TI West. And I guess this one completes the trilogy. I am ashamed to admit I had not watched anyone one of those movies but I just finished X and thought it was fcking brilliant. However what was the theme? That sometimes all you need is good dick. And conversely, too much dick is a killer? Lolol I‘m watching Pearl next. 9mo
vivastory @Reggie Dude, I'm so excited for Maxxxine. I loved X, but Pearl is one of those rare sequels that is even better in every way possible IMO. I saw it when it was in theatres & it was such an over the top experience. The closing shot is one of my favorites of the past several years. I'm reading Maeve Fly right now & am def getting some similar vibes to that movie. Speaking of horror movies, last night I had a dream that Pelayo & I (CONT) (edited) 9mo
vivastory @Reggie were excitedly discussing Immaculate, which so far remains my # 2 movie released this year 9mo

Mehso-so

This was really action-packed and surprisingly I would have loved to have a bit less action. I didn't relate to characters nor cared what happened to them.

This didn't feel really unique/special for me but was entertaining enough.

(2020) A Halloween prank turns into a gorefest when a bunch of teenagers accidentally make themselves targets of a child-killer who is supposed to be an urban legend. It's graphic, short, and 100% committed to its "mean girls meets 80s slasher franchise" vision.

In honor of the fantastic Halloween Ends movie coming out today I chose a novella that‘s about Boogeyman that comes to town on Halloween. A prank on the new girl will lead to them fighting for their lives against Benny Rose. This was great. So many layers and a commentary on the lives of girls in a world not often fair or nice to them. And if your looking for action this one has it. There is a girl with a hammer fight. Great stuff. Also enjoy👇🏼

Reggie These horribly taken pictures of Hailey when I was sitting in the back waiting for the Stoker awards to begin this past year. Lol. She won for best first novel. Well deserved. (edited) 2y

This third book in the #RewindorDie series is my favorite so far. It has a classic haunted house/ghost theme, but the added cannibalism takes it to a new level. I absolutely loved the ending of this one. It was a twist I didn't expect.

This would be a great series for people doing readathons in October because they're short and fit the spooky themes.

TheAromaofBooks Yay!!! 4y
Reggie Yes!!!! That ending made me respect those girls soooo much. Loved this one. 3y

Blackwood , Vermont, a town with nothing to do but leave, is home to the urban legend of Benny Rose, the boogeyman who only appears on Halloween to eat kids. Gabrielle is the unsuspecting new girl who invites 3 new girls over for a slumber party at her grandmother‘s house where a prank will meet an urban legend. I loved this and Piper had me feeling a certain a way about these girls who live in a world that is not nice to girls. There is this👇🏼

Reggie street fight near the end with a hammer that had my horror heart all aflutter. A major horror novella pick! #3 in the Rewind or Die horror novella series. 4y
vivastory Your read through of this series has been a highlight of my week, Reggie 💀📚🤘 4y

Isn‘t that a rad* tattoo! Really liking the build up in this one so far.

* @Centique I would have accepted the shortening of radical in the 80‘s sense of the word. “That‘s rad!” Lol❤️

Centique @Reggie oh man, why didn‘t I think of that!!! You‘re Rad Reggie for sure 😍😂 4y
