I forgot how I found out about this book, the same author who wrote Caddy Woodlawn. Read this in one sitting, it was adorable.

I bought this on Kindle a while back in a fit of childhood nostalgia & finally read it this afternoon. This one was a favorite growing up as for some reason, childhood me so wanted to be like Mary & Jean & stranded on a desert island with a bunch of babies.🤷🏻‍♀️ Although dated (it was published in 1937, written by the author of Caddie Woodlawn) & a bit silly it was fun to reread & I remember its appeal.

One of my mom‘s childhood favorites. I read it when I was much younger and found it fun. My reread of it now is pretty similar—it‘s some light, childhood fun. Although there are definitely some of-the-times gender roles to be found here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I loved Baby Island as a child. I checked it out multiple times from the library, and wished I could have an adventure like the girls in the book.

Courtesy of Scholastic Inc (probably Scholastic Funtastic!), a throwback to my adolescence. Very dated but enjoyable story of two sisters castaway with four babies on an island. They essentially play house for three months, showcasing their amazing culinary skills with bananas and shellfish. Requires much suspension of disbelief but probably fun for kids.

Book intersectionality! I picked this up for a quick read, and to see if it‘s appropriate for the kiddo. Lo and behold - of course there‘s a Robinson Crusoe reference (they are, after all, castaways)! I finished RC a few days ago.

From the author of Caddie Woodlawn comes this 1930's tale of girl power. When Mary and Jean are shipwrecked, they end up stranded/saved on an island. But they're not alone. Four babies have landed there with them! This is a tale of adventure, survival, friendship and building a family. I used to take it out of the library often- you know, 50 years ago!!!!!!
