Dragonwatch, Volume 1: A Fablehaven Adventure
Dragonwatch, Volume 1: A Fablehaven Adventure | Brandon Mull
13 posts | 21 read | 19 to read
The dragons that have been kept in sanctuaries want their freedom--and their revenge--and the world's only hope is the reformation of the ancient order of Dragonwatch in this New York Times bestselling first novel of a new sequel series to Fablehaven from author Brandon Mull. In the hidden dragon sanctuary of Wyrmroost, Celebrant the Just, King of the Dragons, plots his revenge. He has long seen the sanctuaries as prisons, and he wants nothing more than to overthrow his captors and return the world to the Age of Dragons, when he and his kind ruled and reigned without borders. The time has come to break free and reclaim his power. No one person is capable of stopping Celebrant and his dragon horde. It will take the ancient order of Dragonwatch to gather again if there is any chance of saving the world from destruction. In ancient times, Dragonwatch was a group of wizards, enchantresses, dragon slayers, and others who originally confined the majority of dragons into sanctuaries. But nearly all of the original Dragonwatch members are gone, and so the wizard Agad reaches out to Grandpa Sorenson for help. As Kendra and Seth confront this new danger, they must draw upon all their skills, talents, and knowledge as only they have the ability to function together as a powerful dragon tamer. Together they must battle against forces with superior supernatural powers and breathtaking magical abilities. How will the epic dragon showdown end? Will dragons overthrow humans and change the world as we know it?

The book was everything that I need to jump back into this world. It was fun familiar and intriguing. There is something truly satisfying about reading YA and young readers. Connecting to your inner child is one of the most fulfilling ways to activate the deepest parts of your imaginationI can‘t wait to transform this entire world into DnD adventures for my Daughter. It‘s perfect engaging and she won‘t be able to get enough! I can‘t wait to DM it!

This is one guy I was really excited to get to meet, Brandon Mull. When I told him I'd read all of his books and also owned his Caretaker's Guide to Magical Creatures he exclaimed, "Yes! You're one of my people!" #BEA17

This highly anticipated return to Fablehaven has been high on my list and I was thrilled to receive it in my middle grade LitJoy Crate. You can read this without having read Fablehaven, but just know it will have Fablehaven spoilers. It was fun getting back with Kendra and Seth and the trouble at Wyrmroost the dragon sanctuary. I did wish the stakes were higher in this one, but it's only book one, so I await the rest with anticipation!

If you know the Fablehaven series, you will love this book! It's got our two main heroes, Seth and Kendra, becoming caretakers at Wyrmroost, one of the most dangerous sanctuaries. This was a quick read and one I couldn't put down. #dragons #bookrec

After preordering this, ultimately the reading level restriction is getting so on my nerves I just can't finish this. It's so minuscule it writing and it's honestly a let down. I have to bail because it just doesn't hold my interest like the Fablehaven series did: it isn't enchanting to me. For once I don't feel terrible about shelving it unfinished but I feel bad about spending the money on it.

I seem to mostly be reading Dragon books lately... love this one. So glad the author is writing an extension series to my fave MG fantasy series Fablehaven!

Fablehaven fans, rejoice! Kendra & Seth are back & as badass as ever! Dragonwatch opens with a mysterious early morning meeting between Grandpa Sorensen and a shady, cloaked being. Kendra, out for her morning run, over hears some of the conversation and realizes that she and Seth will likely be called upon to do battle again. This time, however, more will be asked of the two than ever before. Glorious. Full review at https://itsallaboutthebook.org

"Ingenious," the Dragon Slayer said. "That shows promise." He slumped back and sighed. "Too bad you'll both be dead soon. So young."
