A funny, fiercely feminist YA epic fantasyfollowing the adventures of a tavern wench Tanya has worked at her tavern since she was able to see over the bar. She broke up her first fight at 11. By the time she was a teenager she knew everything about the place, and she could run it with her eyes closed. Shed never let anyonewhether it be a drunkard or a captain of the queens guardtake advantage of her. But when her guardian dies, she might lose it all: the bar, her home, her purpose in life. So she heads out on a quest to petition the queen to keep the tavern in her namedodging unscrupulous guards, a band of thieves, and a powerful, enchanted feather that seems drawn to her. Fast-paced, magical, and unapologetically feminist, Wench is epic fantasy like youve never seen it before.

Mehso-so

This was one of the books where it felt like everything and nothing happened at the same time. All the characters and events felt 2D and I didn‘t really care about anyone. I never understood the characters‘ choices, & even by the end of the book I never understood how the Quill worked. And throughout the entire book, they use the exclamation “Lady of Cups” & didn‘t explain until page 350/375 who that was. This all just felt like nothing. 2.75⭐️

#thoughtfulthursday @MoonWitch94

🦋 Prim and Rue from The Hunger Games trilogy. 😭

🦋 The end of the Lord of the Rings trilogy; specifically the epilogue that appears in Sauron Defeated and involves a beautiful scene with Sam and his daughter, Elanorelle. ❤

🦋 Wench by Maxine Kaplan!

Tagging @DaveGreen7777 ! Super curious about your answers! 😁💕📚

MoonWitch94 😭 I cried so hard! I just read it & thought: what the heck was the point of it all if you killed her sister in the end anyway!?!?!?!! So frustrating & sad. Thanks for playing 🌸☺️📖 3y
Branwen @MoonWitch94 RIGHT?! IT JUST ALL FELT SO POINTLESS AFTER THAT! 😭😭😭 3y

Super excited for new releases Wench and Rise of the Red Hand, a book I haven‘t yet got to from an author I love (Holly Bourne) and a reread of an all-time favourite in preparation for interviewing Dahlia Adler about it. #tbr #youngadult

Pickpick

I picked this book up based upon the author's description of why she wanted to write it. She talked about how the character of the "Wench" is always there to further another's story - to serve the beer, to provide a quick tumble, to overhear secrets and pass them along, or a variety of other things that helps the MC get what they want. She never gets her own story & so Kaplan decided to give her an adventure of her own. Fun read! (Out in January)

Nute Everybody deserves to have their story told. I think that I might want to hear this one. Thanks for sharing!🙂 3y
