I really struggled with how to rate this one. The story was good, once it settled. This book has more issues than the one before, but I ended up enjoying the story of Sahvage and Mae. There was definitely a lot of psychological mess in this one. They both have massive baggage, but in the end they make it work. Ultimately, I did actually enjoy it. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics I don‘t know if Ward was off her ADHD meds while writing this book, but it was crazy hard to follow with all the jumping around until about 1/3 to 1/2 way through when things seemed to settle into a rhythm similar to the other books in the series. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 (edited) 3y

GingerAntics The last book had “snowflake” and now this book has a “Karen.” Is it meant to be cute? Is she trying to prove she‘s up with pop culture? I don‘t get it, and I wish it would stop, honestly. “Natch” as an ending to a sentence for any and every reason started a few books back and now, quite frankly, it can be used as an example of why you switch up word choice in creative writing courses around the world. It‘s gotten old and annoying. 3y

julesG I've put it off for after the Rivers of London series. I'm currently stuck at book 10 of the brotherhood and book 5.5 of Rivers of London. Decided to read an ARC in between and am not happy with it. 3y

julesG The ARC's an Epic Fantasy, supposedly for adults, but I don't see it. It reads like YA. And I'm definitely over all the YA tropes. 3y

julesG I read my favourite YAs with my daughter. And I hate YA authors who write an "adult" fiction by just aging their characters. ?? 3y

I enjoyed this installment quite a bit as it followed long lost Brother Sahvage and civilian female Mae on a (mis)adventure to get The Book which readers might remember from the Fallen Angels series…crossover characters are happening left, right, & center! On the spice scale: 🌶🌶🌶/5

Lately, the announcements have made me go ‘who TF is that?!‘ but I‘m finding myself LOVING these latest instalments! And it‘s mostly because THINGS ARE HAPPENING! The story is moving forward, we are SO very close to a Lassiter book, I hope (been waiting years), things are being resolved, loose ends tied up, the story is in a forward motion. I love the characters, but the Warden has been killing it, story wise, these last few books.
