I had my last day as a bookseller before I transition into a grad student! I‘m going to miss being surrounded by books all the time and all of the knowledge I gained about the book publishing world. I‘m not going to miss the constant temptation to buy books! I‘m looking forward to starting my studies in August though!
💐I also decided to go for a more fun username. I changed from @MadelineMccrae to @RosePressedPages 💐
I absolutely adored this book & can't think of a single reason why any self-respecting bibliophile wouldn't love it too. The reviews on the back say it all, really. It is just so elegantly written & absolutely jam-packed with fascinating stuff to do with books! My favourite section was that on 'comfort books' - the things the author had to say resonated deeply. It has a wry wit & simply vibrates with the joy & love of books. Highly recommended ❤️
Still plodding along with this! I think part of my problem is that I'm not quite sure what the point is. The chapters seem pretty unrelated. It's just... generally about loving books, with no end-point in mind. Or so it seems!
I don't know why I'm so slow with this; it should be my thing. I think I just don't get on with something about the author's style. Boo and alas. :(
Latham loves books a LOT. And I mean books in the sense of codices; I am waiting for the part where he gets upset about ebooks, despite generally enjoying his enthusiasm for the physical thing. I'll be surprised if he doesn't hit out at some point.
I love both, and I hope I never give anyone the impression I'm looking down on them for their preference!
