I may have just figured out something about this book. 🤔🧐 Will have to keep reading to find out if I‘m right. About 25% in - it‘s dark and gritty, and full of potential triggers, but I love the way the author uses the verse. When the chapters change from one twin‘s perspective to the other, there are matching words on the opposing pages separated from the rest of the verse. So creative. It must have taken so much time and thought. ❤️📚

I thought I'd take a break from all the horror/scary stories I've been reading all month, but tbh this was a horror in itself. In a fucked-up-family-omg-I-can't-believe-people-out-there-actually-have-these-experiences-and-survive-then-have-to-cope-and-no-wonder-people-get-addicted-to-shit sorta way. This had my attention.

Probably one of the most disturbing books I‘ve ever read. Oddly enough, as horrifying as some of the content was, I couldn‘t stop reading it. Once again, Hopkins amazes me just how far she will push norms of literature to write about things that are usually hushed.

I wanted to read another Ellen Hopkins book because I absolutely fell in love with her writing style when I read her Crank series. I fell in love with her writing all over again. The plot is a little dark, but i absolutely loved this book. And i wasn't even expecting the twist that happened towards the end of the book!

So many people have voiced that they saw this ending coming - but I stand apart as I was blown away! I did NOT see that coming at all, and loved it!

Wonderfully written with such developed characters, “Identical” centers around twins, Kaeleigh and Raeanne who handle their family drama/trauma in their own unique ways.

As their mother is desperately seeking approval on the campaign travel, their father is disgustingly seeking love from Kaeleigh.

This was my first experience reading this author and it was very unique. I really found the style of the verse very interesting and the storyline was extremely well thought out and intriguing. Some parts were a bit repetitive, but overall I really thought this book was very good.

Yikes! This book is disturbing. The family is dysfunctional with a twist. The writing style is unique but it adds to the story.

My January reads.

This book has been very dark, it should definitely come with trigger warnings. I feel like some of my book group are going to have a difficult time with this subject.

I think some people like this book. I‘m not one of them... The ‘unexpected‘ ending was clear after reading not even half an hour. This is a bummer if you think you are in for a good mystery. While I think it is important to write books about problems, I don‘t see the point in writing one about all the problems. Abuse, child pornography, mental illness, drug abuse, alcohol...all in one book with a very explicit writing. Not my cup of tea.

More of Ellen's beautifully written verses, that tell the story of two identical twins trying to make their way through high school and running into all the demons along the way. Twisted ending. Maybe not for everyone, but I loved it.

Easily my favorite Hopkins novel to date. I was blown away after reading this during my teenage Hopkins binge. The novel is interesting and suspenseful while also dealing with a variety of tough issues. It's honest and hard to read, and I liked that.

This book was amazing. As others before me have stated, it does Touch on some very taboo subject, but none that I am not familiar with. I wouldn't recommend this book to those who are oppose to books that have graphic material. The twist was quite evident but it was still enjoyable to see unfold. Over all, amazing book, and I can't wait to escape to more of Hopkins worlds!

God. This book will turn your good day into a dark and dreary one. Though I saw the twist coming from a mile away, Hopkins pours so much emotion into her beautiful verse writing and makes this one worth a read. WARNING: Not for the faint of heart. There one is very graphic and covers some taboo topics.

First Ellen Hopkins book I ever read, and although it is now in my bottom three Ellen Hopkins picks it's still the one that got me hooked on her work. Such an intense story but so difficult to get through! So beautifully crafted but it's one of my least favorites, simply because it's a tough subject. Spoiler alert--you will cry...7/10...#toughstuff

This book has so much emotion involved and the fact that it made me break out into tears just shows to prove that. I highly recommend if you love twisted endings. Best book by her I've read so far, honestly.
