Just picked this up again, I want to finish it. It‘s a sweet book so far.

Basically, it‘s about a man who becomes obsessed with baking the perfect loaf of bread. The book was okay. 😏. Book two of #doublebookspin

You‘re breaking my heart here! The masking tape owner also used paper clips. The writing is sort of endearing to me in used books. But the paper clips and masking tape are killing me

Texreader Omg! That‘s crazy! 4y
DogEaredBooks @Texreader right? Definitely unexpected 4y

I got this book online for $4 which seemed like a great deal except it turned up looking like someone ran it over. But the worst part - the previous owner used (and left) masking tape as a bookmark!!! Who does that?!

Thought you all would share my pain here!

BookDragonNotWorm Isn't there a tenth level of hell just for people like that? 😱 4y

Another book that really picked up at the end, trying to get me to recommend it. Nope! The first 200 pages were pretty forgettable. I first checked this out as an ebook, but I was going too slowly (I kept walking away). Of the three books I read where white men do something weird for a year while their wives put up with it, I liked this the least. At least #plaguebreak helped me get this off my "Currently Reading" where it had been since July 2018

After sharing my despair with @mrsmarch at not finding any ebooks on my planned list for #LitsyAtoZ, she recommended this one for #F that I started on my lunch break. Good so far, but I realize it's very similar to something I finished relatively recently: straight white male writer does something for a year and his wife is putting up with it.

mrsmarch This is true, but it‘s about BREAD and you can follow it up with the nonfiction history of PEANUT BUTTER. Now all we need is a biography of the Smuckers family and we‘re in business. (edited) 6y
trueisa4letterword @mrsmarch Funny you should say that because the book I alluded to has a part where the author goes to meet some Amish people and they're related to the Smuckers family (who are no longer Amish, obv) 6y
mrsmarch @trueisa4letterword There comes a point where I swear, a person can have read enough that you can play 6 Degrees with literature. 6y
