It's a Wonderful Midlife Crisis
It's a Wonderful Midlife Crisis: A Paranormal Women's Fiction Novel | Robyn Peterman
8 posts | 6 read | 3 to read
Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good. But as they say, all good things come to an end. Id honestly love to know who they are and rip them a new one. One year later, Im a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed and breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side jobdeceased people Im not even sure are actually there. I think they need my help, but since I dont speak dead, were having a few issues. To add to the heap of trouble, theres a new dangerously smokin hot lawyer at the firm who won't stop giving me the eye. My BFF is thrilled with her new frozen face, thanks to her plastic surgeon, her alimony check, and the miracle of Botox. And then theres the little conundrum that Im becoming way too attached to my ghostly squatters... Like Cher, I'd like to turn back time. Now. No can do. Whatever. I have wine, good friends, and an industrial sized box of superglue. What could possibly go wrong? Everything, apparently. All in all, its shaping up to be a wonderful midlife crisis...

The conceit is weird and totally crazy but this audiobook is the easy sweet fantasy to get you out of a reading slump😂. I feel the cover gives the wrong impression and makes you think horror or at least dark fantasy.

#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024 This is the first book in the Good to the Last Death series. The main reason I chose this book is because I‘m tired of books about teenagers and self-involved twentysomethings. Daisy is 40 and I don‘t remember what 40 was like (although I clearly remember 30🤷‍♀️). But she‘s not a child, so it‘s easier to appreciate her life experiences. This book was a bit darker than I expected but still entertaining. (cont)⬇️

DieAReader 🥳Great! 3mo
CatLass007 The last few chapters are pretty emotional. My one complaint about this book is a technical rather than a storytelling issue. I listened to the audiobook and it seemed like the narration was sped up. I missed a lot at first so I actually had to slow it down. That was really unusual and annoying. 3mo

#SeriesLove2024 #ReadAway2024 “Your skirt is so short I can see your religion.” Only in the South could you hear an expression like this one.

DieAReader 🥳Awesome! 3mo
CatLass007 @DieAReader Thanks. I haven‘t finished it yet but that expression definitely gave me pause. 3mo
TheSpineView Fantastic 3mo
CatLass007 @TheSpineView It‘s a light read but after the Dexter series I need one. 3mo

Mehso-so

This presents as a fun, if not a little crazy, read with a kinda spooky vibe, but Chapter 11 drops a big bomb that brings some much needed depth to this book. It didn‘t last long and went back to crazy, but it was very cheeky and decent UNTIL IT JUST ENDS. Boom, ends in the middle of a big story line. UGGGGH. I might not read the next in the series OUT OF SPITE. Book #61 in 2023

First, It was an audiobook and I did not enjoy the narrators interpretation of the story. Second, Daisy can see ghosts (they are decomposing) she doesn't try to find an explanation for it and she continues on with her everyday life. Later on she finds out she is a ghost counselor and she comes from a long line of people who do this. The plot is introduced too late into the story.

FlynnDewey Always a damn shame when you don't enjoy a book. I find that sadder than not enjoying a movie. 7mo

Not exactly black but this series recently became a favorite. And it was the first to come to mind when I thought of black covers. #ScarathlonDailyPrompts #Scarathalon2022 @Clwojick #TeamSlaughter #CatchingUp
