Share Your Stuff. I'll Go First.: 10 Questions to Take Your Friendships to the Next Level | Laura Tremaine
9 posts | 8 read | 11 to read
Part memoir and part guidebook, Share Your Stuff. I'll Go First. is the invitation you've been waiting for to show up with your whole self and discover the intimate, meaningful relationships you long for. In spite of the hyper-connected culture we live in today, women still feel shamed for oversharing and being publicly vulnerable. And no matter how many friends we seem to have, many of us are still desperately lonely. Laura Tremaine says it's time for something better. Openness and vulnerability are the foundation for human growth and healthy relationships, and it all starts when we share our stuff, the nitty-gritty daily details about ourselves with others. Laura has led the way in her personal life with her popular blog and podcast, and now with lighthearted self-awareness, a sensitivity to the important things in life, and compelling storytelling, Laura gives you the tools to build and deepen the conversations happening in your life. Laura's stories about her childhood in Oklahoma, her complicated shifts in faith and friendships, and her marriage to a Hollywood movie director will prompt you to identify the beautiful narrative and pivotal milestones of your own life. Each chapter offers intriguing and reflective questions that will reveal unique details and stories you've never thought to tell and will guide you into cultivating the authentic connection with others that only comes from sharing yourself.

The goal of this book is to dive deeper in your personal relationships. The author is chatty and vulnerable and encourages you to be the same with others. She provides lists of questions to start you down the path. I wished there was more about connecting and less about her personal history. It‘s more memoir than instructional book and I wish it had been advertised that way.

I had an absolutely wretched July. I came home from DC & was *womp womp* sick w covid. Then I wrenched my hip & was laid up for a few days. I‘m busy & stressed off my heid cleaning house bc my husband has a thorn in his paw abt something or other. I‘ve been reading, but I didn‘t have the bandwidth for July #bookspin choices. I‘ve tried to stack August with books I KNOW I‘ll want to read.

TheAromaofBooks Sorry July went off the rails!!! Hopefully things will calm down in August. ❤ 2y
LiteraryinLawrence This sounds so stressful! Be nice to yourself in August- you‘re doing your best! 2y

I have been amazingly lucky to meet some incredible friends here and irl over the years and sharing and being vulnerable has been integral part of that. In this unique memoir, Laura gives you ten questions and challenges for you to dig deeper with old friends and new along with sharing her answers. This would be a great buddy read! #audiobook

Cinfhen This sounds REALLY FUN!! Im gonna look for it 🤩 3y
Megabooks @Cinfhen it was!! I wish I had buddy read it and I haven‘t precluded the possibility of doing that at some point in the future! 3y

For me, this wasn‘t a new idea. During my college years one of my favorite things to do was to “go deep” with people. The book has great ideas for connecting through 10 open ended questions which the author goes into answering about her own life. I appreciate the openness, but the memoir aspect was nothing earth shattering for me. Still a pick, as I appreciate the concept.

Clare-Dragonfly I‘m glad I read your review because based on the title I thought this was about minimalism or communal living 😂 3y
Chelsea.Poole @Clare-Dragonfly lol I can definitely see this title working for that!! 3y

I finished this on audiobook and loved it! I want everyone to read this book. It‘s so important to find connection and this is a great roadmap. I‘ve always been one to gravitate to deeper conversations with friends rather than surface level stuff and Laura takes this to a whole new level. I love her podcast so it was no surprise I would love the book on audio as well. 5⭐️

Current audiobook. I‘m a huge fan of Laura Tremaine‘s podcast 10 Things To Tell You so I was thrilled when she announced her book. I pre-ordered it months ago and it released Tuesday. I‘m loving it so much! 🎉🎆💕 If you like deep conversations, journal prompts, memoirs, or inspiring stories, this book is for you!
