Poignant, hopeful, and full of emotional power, an unforgettable story in the vein of P.S. I Love You about two people learning to love again after great loss, perfect for fans of Jojo Moyes and Josie Silver. How can you move on if you can't let go? Spencer was the love of Anna's life: her husband, her best friend, her rock. She thought their love would last forever. But three years ago, Spencer was tragically killed in an accident and Anna's world was shattered. How can she ever move on, when she's lost her soulmate? On New Year's Eve Anna calls Spencer's phone number, just to hear his old voicemail greeting. But to her shock, someone answers... Brody has inherited Spencer's old number and is the first person who truly understands what Anna's going through. As her and Brody's phone calls become lengthier and more frequent, they begin opening up to each other--and slowly rediscover how to smile, how to laugh, even how to hope. But Brody hasn't been entirely honest with Anna. Will his secret threaten everything, just as it seems she might find the courage to love again?

It took me two tries to get through this one. I liked the characters but the pace took me a bit to get in to. It‘s like a big mix of Sleepless in Seattle, You‘ve Got Mail and P.S. I Love You. Anyone else see that?

While I love those movies I was hoping I‘d love this book more than I did.

TheAromaofBooks Great progress!!! 3y

This one tugged at my heart strings watching Anna try to navigate the loss of her husband. It was lovely to see her come back to life.

3.5. Good, too long, too much of Anna drawing out "it's not Spencer" over too many pages, but a good story overall.

Started this last night. It'll be a cute and easy-going read I think.

P.S. I Love You × Nim's Island × You've Got Mail

Brody now owns Anna's late husband's phone number. Each having experienced grief they connect in an unexpected way, though he isn't completely forthcoming. He is also battling agoraphobia. I found myself bawling early on and knew I was emotionally invested.

One of the best stories about grief and loss I've read in quite awhile. Not afraid to tackle those heavy topics but also leaving readers with so much hope. #arc #audio #fionalucas #thelastgoodbye

I checked off 2 more prompts from my #TBRDeckofCards! Some Like it Ruthless was the 2nd book in a series, and The Last Goodbye was my most recent NetGalley audiobook download. Both were great, although The Last Goodbye was a much slower read. These both fit into my #Jumpstart2021 and #JoyousJanuary goals as well.
