Grave Robbery | Deanna Raybourn

Always happy to be back with Veronica and Stoker. I love that this time around they seem to comfortable in their personal lives that it kind of makes everything else seem rather ease. Which is really refreshing. The mystery itself is very intriguing and mixed with some truly hilarious moments and it's one of the lighter entries in the series. Just sad I read it too quickly. Excelsior! #mystery #series

I like that we get to travel to a new locale in this one. Of course trouble will follow Finlay and Vero wherever they go and oftentimes they're the ones following the trouble. That's not changed this time around. I feel like this one, more than the other books, ties up a bunch of loose ends, but leaves just enough that Elle Cosimano can continue the series onward. #mystery #romance #series #FinlayDonovanRollsTheDice

The Heiress: A Novel | Rachel Hawkins
post image
Pickpick

I think this is one of Rachel Hawkins' best - at least so far. It really recalls Hawkins' The Villa in the idea that there's always more to the story than surface level. I think Rachel Hawkins did a great job of setting up the big reveals by peppering the story with other twists that weren't as surprising. If a book can have my attention, keep my attention, and continue to replay in my head even after finishing, I'd say it's a pretty good read.

I enjoyed this second book more than the first. This time around the mystery is kind of tangled up in Molly's past and I really liked getting a glimpse of that past as it's nice learning about her character and seeing her grow so much!

Such a great second chance / grumpy sunshine romance. The dual narration and alternating present to past chapters kept me hooked throughout and has left me with the worst book hangover (and I mean that in the best way possible). I kept hearing a lot of hype for this book before release and it lives up to everything! Highly recommend this one! #audiobook #romance #secondchanceromance

One Dark Window | Rachel Gillig

Rachel Gillig has a fine hand with world-building and leaves the story in just the right spot to where I'm anticipating what comes next. Lisa Cordileone gives such life to Elspeth and balances every other character with such distinction. This is definitely one to check out. #debut #audio #fantasy

This has been my favorite summer #audiobook. Lucy Score packs an engaging story full of romance, friendship, family, home renovation, small town and even a little mystery. The pacing is spot on and And Emma Wilder does awesome with narration, truly making each character stand out on their own. Highly recommend this one. #romance #lucystone #emmawilder #contemporary

Another compulsive read from #alicefeeney. Even though I guessed one of the twists fairly early on I still couldn't put down this book as I just needed to figure out the over-arching consequences. A wonderful example of the locked room mystery trope. #mystery #thriller

I just couldn't get through this one. Very slow build up for something that I felt didn't give me the surprise or shock I was expecting. Both of the characters were unlikable which I think made the story lack that emotional connection with the suspense. The narrators both did a chillingly good job and I liked that we got dual narration. #Audiobook #mystery #suspense

I think I liked this one better than the first! The enterprising Dashwood sisters take up the investigation after they suspect their father had been murdered. A wonderful and fresh retelling of a story/author that's had their fair share of retellings. #mystery #retelling #senseandsensibility

Finlay Donovan is navigating a sequel! This time trying to figure out who put a bit out on her ex husband. Of course Finlay gets pulled deeper and deeper into all the twists and turns but Elle Cosimano navigates everything really well leading up to a worthwhile conclusion. Angela Dawe is a great narrator and brings Finlay to life perfectly #arc #audiobook #mystery

Loved this one more than the first! Caro and Val are the perfect match for one another. The sharp #mystery is paired with a #secondchanceromance which is always my cup of tea and balanced so well. Mary Jane Wells is a wonderful narrator really capturing the individuality of each character. And Manda Collins leaves a few bread crumbs to lead readers into the next book. #historical #audiobook

I love a good second chance romance and this one pretty much says it all in the title but I love how #sajnipatel not only tackles love and relationships here but also family obligation and how much our culture/beliefs play into our own happiness. It's often a difficult road, but the journey is worth it! Oh, and that cover 😍 #audiobook #romance #secondchanceromance #family #coverlove

An interesting, plausible spin on the real-life mysterious disappearance of Agatha Christie. Focusing not on Agatha Christie one of the most well-known detective novelists ever, but on Agatha Christie the woman, mother, wife, daughter, and sister finding her own voice amongst all those labels. #historical #mystery #mariebenedict

The Unwilling is a sprawling, winding story. Kelly Braffet‘s writing is engrossing. The careful planning of each little detail can be deftly felt. But The Unwilling is also not an easy read, but somehow I kept finding my way back to it again and again. For that, it wove some kind of spell over me. vampirebookclub.net
