Daughters of the Deep is a retrofuturism science fiction novel. This would be a good book to have in your classroom because it combines elements of the past and the future giving students a unique perspective on technology, society, and imagination which encourages critical thinking.

Daughters of the Deep by Rick Riordan is a speculative fictional novel that was published in 2021. The only remaining member of Ana's family is her elder brother Dev, who is also a student at HP. Ana's parents passed away two years ago when she was on a research excursion. The class's weekend trial at sea, the specifics of which have been kept a secret, marks Ana's first year in college. She only hopes that she has what it takes to be successful.

How did Rick Riordan make a retelling of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea interesting? I have no idea, but I really enjoyed reading it.

After an attack destroys Ana Dakkar‘s school, she & the rest of her yearmates are in a race to recover a lost treasure of technological marvels before it falls into the hands of those who would abuse it.

An intense, fast paced story, bursting at the seams with diverse/interesting characters, & an examination on the importance of honest communication. The friendships are delightful. Ending was satisfying, but open enough for a sequel🤞🏻🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

I love when you find a story that references another book.

An intense adventure filled with humor and well-placed nods to the novels of Jules Verne.

While I'm disappointed there won't be more mythology stories, Riordan can do no wrong. It still feels like a typical Riordan adventure book which I'm happy about. Since I had read the Verne books as well I felt like it added to the experience. I can't wait to read future under water adventures and see what he comes up with next.

Intertwined with Jules Verne‘s “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” this is another great high-action middle grade read from Rick Riordan!

I loved everything about this book. Uncle Rick does it again, where Jules Vernes 20,000 Leagues under the Sea and Mysterious Island are historic fiction. (favorite classic) The Nautilus is real, and she is Ana‘s inheritance. What struck me is the no real rush of adrenaline of danger, but hurdles to overcome. Oh My Gosh the Blue Willow Bookshop always go above and beyond when they send their books. I am so excited for this book! Have been since I first heard of it - my favorite modern author writing a story about a favorite classic! Jules Vern was above his time. What I find stellar is that I know this will be a grand book. Uncle Rick has wanted to write this retelling for a decade, he‘s shared. He knows what he‘s doing

Love, love, love this book. It‘s fantastic from the first page to the last. Honestly, I would expect nothing less from Riordan—he definitely got the awesome storyteller gene. A thrilling story with a great group of diverse characters, danger, adventure & loads of surprises, this homage to Jules Verne & 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea might be my favorite thing Riordan has written after the original Percy Jackson & the Olympians series. Excellent.
