Definitely pretty violent and cynical, but such a rich world of retellings with new rules to play around in. Is there such a subgenre as fairy tale noir? 🤔

pickHow I have not read these Fables comics before? They are SO up my alley: fairy tale characters trying to live unnoticed in NYC. Dark, funny, definitely grown-up versions where some famous happily-ever-afters are now divorced, tensions get bloody, but they have to stick together because of where they come from. This first volume merges mystery, deceit & revolt among sly winks about characters we thought we knew. Next volume, ordered.
I started this series some years ago (before kids) but gave up on it as the library didn't have many issues. I recently saw that they now have (or are in the process of ordering) all the deluxe editions! So I'm starting over.
pickGreat comic. Just started reading comics and this is one I wanted to start with. I love my fairytales and myths and legends. Will continue to catch up.

Is a #comic collection cheating for #bookwithpictures? My boyfriend got me this as a birthday present in 2014 and it's been on my #currentlyreading list since!
