Mystery with setting in a city whose metro area I have lived in for 29 years. It‘s fun to know and see the locations referred to in a book. This happened to be the Barton Hills area. Mostly pick, though I wished there were fewer supporting characters and subplots.

There is a space, I think, between understanding that we are all alone—unknowable—and acknowledging this lonely truth. Some of us live forever in this space. I certainly tried 🛟

Book club read.
Fast-paced mystery that I didn't really get into... Quite unrealistic, and when you really think of it, the plot is stupid. I guess the author wanted readers to ask themselves how far someone could go to protect one's children, but it's a big fail to me...

Great read! Suspenseful at parts. I found it very relateable as a mom living in a planned community.

I‘m a bit obsessed with Austin, TX (my pic of Lake Travis in the background) so was drawn to the book‘s setting. I liked getting to know the three moms and their kids, and I didn‘t expect the ending. I would have preferred a tighter story with some supporting characters dropped to allow more inspection in core parts, but overall I liked it.

Mehso-so

Three women each has a 15-year-old who is a lifeguard. One night the boys find a girl‘s body in the so-called green space where this upper middle class neighborhood can enjoy the cool pools as escape from the Austin, Texas heat. The plot centers around who might have something to do with the death. I give this a so-so because the women seem like stock characters that we‘ve all known before. It‘s an entertaining read for just a fairly written book

Happy Publication Day! I just love Ward‘s writing and her latest is a summery and exciting drama of friendship, family, secrets and murder set in Austin, TX! With multiple narrators, some multimedia inclusions and an exciting plot that moves across timelines, this is a real page turner! Some characters are more frustrating than others and some questions go unanswered, but it makes for a genuinely entertaining and riveting read!
