I see toast in my future! 😋

Has cinnamon raisin bread gone out of favor? I rarely see it cooking & baking books anymore. I have fond memories of the rare occasions my mom would buy a loaf from the grocery store.

Leftcoastzen I don‘t eat it often but love it. 2y

Simona My mom still bakes this bread and it‘s so yummy 😋 2y

Bookzombie I love it! 2y
Tamra It turned out great! Because I‘m lazy I used the bread machine. 😊 It makes for fabulous grilled cheese sandwiches! I‘m making another loaf just for that purpose. @Leftcoastzen @kspenmoll @Simone @Cathythoughts @cariashley @ReadOrDie @LeahBergen @Christine @Bookzombie 2y

Get a look at these end papers! Love the retro design, but the color! 🤢In the early 70‘s the dominant color in my parents‘ home was this avocado/army green. Oh Lordy it was ugly: carpet, appliances, linoleum, bathroom fixtures, even the dishes!

Please let‘s not redo the 70‘s! In Target the other day my husband noticed the clothing in the women‘s dept. was very reminiscent of the era. 😬 No thanks, I‘d rather be unfashionably dressed.

Prairiegirl_reading Let me guess…. All the appliances AND the phone? 3y
Tamra @Prairiegirl_reading 😂😂😂 Yes! I forgot about the phone! It was a wall phone that was avocado! 3y

AlaMich Don‘t forget about “harvest gold!” That color was of the same era. 😂 3y
Tamra @AlaMich 😆 indeed it was! 💛 3y
TheSpineView @AlaMich My Mom had a harvest gold fridge. And the wall paper....These big flowers that where orange and yellow on snow avocado color background. The horror! 😂😂😂 3y
TiredLibrarian Why was gold, avocado, and pumpkin/rust ever considered a good idea for decor? The library where I work has a main wing that was completed in the 70s, and when I started working there we had these colors! Luckily we've renovated since! 3y
AlaMich @TheSpineView Sounds lovely! 😄 3y

I couldn‘t locate the 2018 edition of this tome in the database. I love the modern variety of recipes and variations on themes.

It set me on a quest for Nashville Hot Chicken in our metro area! (I‘m not a deep fryer at home.) I found one place that offers a gradation of heat, starting with “Minnesota Nice”, which is none of course. Bahahaha 😂🤣

I managed to snag a pristine copy from Abe Books for under $10!

MicheleinPhilly I love spice but even I find that different restaurants‘ gradations are HIGHLY subjective. We have local spots that classify things as “moderately spicy” that have me calling for my mama. 3y
Tamra @MicheleinPhilly 😅 I hear you! I love spicy, but often here in the Midwest I have to ask for the highest heat level, but I know that isn‘t the case in other regions or even in many urban centers. At Ethiopian restaurants I ask them to make the food as if I was Habasha (Ethiopian). 😜 3y
MicheleinPhilly It‘s our local Thai and Indian spots that like to blow my palate out. Even when I ask for a 3, on a scale of 1 to 5, I‘m shoveling rice in my mouth by the fistful. 3y
