Sunny imagined the river rushing forth with power and life, and there came the flowery gust of everything.
I liked this book because it has a whimsical feel of magic and warrior/ witchcraft. A desire for adventure and discovering new powers within oneself. I like the names of the characters such as Sunny and Sugar Cream giving it an upbeat, sweet outlook
I really like the aspect of cultures in this book. I think it is a great way to learn but also enjoy different cultures
This book, published in 2022 is part of a three book series. This book is related to the main character‘s life and how she must control bother her magic and her real life. It is very detailed and incorporates two different cultures in a beautiful way.
This book was published in 2021. It was a very easy read of the first chapter and was very easy to pick up on even when the book was in fast motion. I also think the message this book seems to bring is a great message of woman power.
This book does a great job of putting the reader in the right setting and mindset!
Akata Woman by Nnedi Okorafor is a winner of the Hugo, Locus, And world fantast awards (2022). This book tells a story about Sunny Nwazue and he mystical energy. She goes on a quest that is dangerous and fan-statical. The first chapter takes you to a dark place and sets the scene and mood of the story.
@Gissy first I hope you and your family are ok. Second OMG everything is perfect! You really do need to read the Akata books they are so good and the first two were a fun read. Thank you so much for everything. I can‘t wait to try the coffee!

Sunny has grown so much as a confident, self assured young woman. I wish there was more lore about the wilderness here. This was a spiritual piece of her story. That‘s why it felt “slower”, yet still powerful. Good backstory and lesson spent twice. Good connection for revenge from Udide and Chichi. Ending was left very open ended. Easily leave it, easily add more. This is an amazing world of juju magic.
I cannot say enough good things about this book and really this series overall. Sunny's journey from outcast to strong, capable woman is absolutely captivating.
I don't know if Nnedi Okorafor has plans to continue the series beyond three books, but I know I would love to see more.
FINALLY!
I have been waiting to get my hands on this and I'm so happy I finally did today!
Can‘t say I remember ordering this - so must have been a preorder when I had a discount code 🤔 Great to have the whole trilogy - now to get on with the reading them part (I‘ve read the first one but it was awhile ago)
