Once, we'd worshipped them as Gods. For nearly 400 years, the Veil has protected us from the Fae of Alfheimr. In their absence, our lives have shifted from decadence and sin to survival and virtue under the guidance of the New Gods. I've spent my entire life tending to the gardens next to the boundary between our worlds, drawn to the shimmering magic like a moth to the flame. Then, we died on their swords. All of that changes the day the Veil shatters, unleashing the fae upon our world once again. The magic of faerie marks those of us they mean to take, but the Mist Guard protecting Nothrek will kill us all before they let the fae have us. There's no choice but to flee everything I've ever known, not if I want to live to see my twenty-first birthday as a free woman. Now, they'll claim what's theirs. But before they capture me, Caelum saves me from the Wild Hunt. Fae-marked and on the run, he is able to fight back in ways I only dream of. From tentative alliance to all-consuming passion, our bond strengthens as the fae close in and evil lurks ever nearer. With my life on the line, he is everything I shouldn't dare to want and a distraction I can't afford. I can't seem to stay away, not even with something greater on the line.My heart.Author's Note: This book is intended for readers who are 18 and older. It contains mature language, graphic violence, and explicit content with darker elements. This is book one in a series and ends in a cliffhanger.

Very interesting worldbuilding and love story though at this point there isn't real romance - hopefully yet to come! Very dark, misogynistic setting. Be aware of trigger warnings! I liked the dark atmosphere, the ominous feeling and mystery. The hidden identity was early obvious but it was nice to catch up on all the hints.

This book was okay, but really predictable and I wasn't a fan of the writing throughout. Some good moments, but I felt like the author wanted all this suprise and I saw every twist early on.

I‘m obsessed with this author. Hooks your from the first chapter and then ends in a cliffhanger.
Contains: Fae, strong but demure female lead and a resistance

It‘s been awhile since I‘ve read a fantasy book. It‘s not my usual genre. I really enjoyed this book. It was a refreshing change of pace for me. The world building was great. The history between the fae and the humans was so interesting. I loved the concept of being fae marked. My main complaint was how women are treated in the society. As brainless servants there to satisfy mens sexual needs.

I loved this book so much! It was so different from what I was expecting! It dragged a little bit when she was on the run in the woods, but that ending! It was a cliffhanger but I‘m so glad book 2 just came out! It was spicy and heartbreaking. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ❤️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read. Kinda a mashup of Jennifer L Armentrout and Sarah J Maas. Book one of a series. Does end in a cliffhanger but book 2 just released last week so there‘s that. Another fantasy romance with fae and humans but done in a fast paced action packed way. To be fair it was slow to start but once you get past that…ah…mazing! #littensloveromance #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks

Well, I've still got no clue as to what lies beyond the veil...

It contains really bad writing, almost zero plot, a terrible MMC and the twist at the end was predictable from the start.

You really can just read From Blood and Ash instead, It's basically the same, but at least it had a better MMC.
