Isabel Ibañez's Together We Burn is a lush, enchanting standalone fantasy inspired by medieval Spain, filled with romance, adventure and just the right amount of danger. An ancient city plagued by dragons Eighteen-year-old Zarela Zalvidar is a talented flamenco dancer and daughter of the most famous Dragonador in Hispalia. People come for miles to see him fight in their arena, which will one day be hers. But disaster strikes during one celebratory show, and in the carnage, Zarela’s life changes in an instant. A flamenco dancer who must become a dragon hunter to save her family legacy With the Dragon Guild trying to wrest control of her inheritance from her, Zarela has no choice but to train to become a Dragonador. But when the most talented dragon hunter left in the land -- the infuriatingly handsome Arturo Díaz de Montserrat -- withholds his help, Zarela cannot take no for an answer. Without him, her world will burn.

Imagine Spain, but instead of bull-fighting, it's dragon- fighting! Loved how natural the world building felt as it picks up on so many Spanish traditions💃ðŸ»

Only complaint: Would have been quite annoying if I didn't speak Spanish, as there are many sentences and phrases included without translation.

Cheeky contribution to #foodandlit Spain 🇪🇦ðŸ·â˜€ï¸ðŸŠ

Mehso-so

This one was a disappointment. Look at that gorgeous cover!! The premise sounded so interesting - an AU Spain where people fight dragons instead of bulls. But the pacing was just terrible and the world-building scattered. I clocked the villain the second he appeared. I dragged myself through this one, hoping that it was going to get better, and it just never did. I've enjoyed other books by this author, but this one didn't click for me.

PuddleJumper Aww that sucks 9mo
peanutnine That's a bummer. It definitely has an interesting premise 9mo
TheAromaofBooks @PuddleJumper @peanutnine - I will say this book has received many positive reviews, so maybe I just wasn't in the right headspace for it!! 9mo

I usually don‘t read YA ( curmudgeon I know) but the cover and title drew me in. Spectacular fun that left me smiling! Here watch the greatest flamenco dancer who ever lived (1944): https://twitter.com/tg22110/status/1557944654133346304?s=21&t=xeE4SHmaD3zH1AypKS.... Then imagine her with dragons.

I think this is the perfect author to use for this prompt since both her first AND last names start with an 'I' ! 😂

My bookish box subscription arrived today! They are pretty behind on shipping right now, so I'm not even sure which month this one is! May maybe? 🤔 The tagged book featured an alternate cover but the naked book underneath is even more gorgeous! 🥰📚 Rumpel kept trying to play with the sword bookmark, but it was too stabby so I had to take it away from her! 😸 #bookishbox #catsoflitsy #rumpel

GingerAntics “The Trees Speak Latin†is that from something? I find the idea intriguing. 2y
Branwen @GingerAntics YES! It's a quote from The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater! The group of kids explore this mythical/trippy forest where the trees speak to one of them in Latin! It's a fantastic series! 2y
GingerAntics @Branwen what a fun detail to add to the book. Also, a wonderful way to get kids interested in the language. I‘m going to have to check out this series. 2y

Happy Publication Day! This YA fantasy blends a Spanish-influences landscape with dragons -& flamenco dancing! It‘s a fun & fast read. There‘s plenty of action, a stubborn heroine and a great love of family here. The romance may be a bit predictable- and some may guess at the true villain, & spot some plot-holes, but all in all this is entertaining & dragon-filled! It‘s always nice to see fantasy inspired by somewhere other than feudal England!
