I Want My Hat Back | Jon Klassen

Pickpick

Bear questions each animal looking for his hat and each denies seeing it including a rabbit with a red hat on his head. Sitting on my couch with a glass of wine, I cracked up when the bear realized he had seen his hat. Clever and funny. The rabbit gets his comeuppance. We‘ve owned this for a while and I had somehow never read it. #picturebooksatoz #bbrc #letterI

Lindy “Comeuppance” is one way of putting it… love this book SO MUCH! 5mo
LibrarianRyan Love. This book. You should try Who pooped on my head. Also known as the tagged book. It‘s along the same lines. 5mo

Blaire @LibrarianRyan ooh! Will get this from my library. I can imagine my kids cracking up already. 5mo

Isaiah Quintabe (known to his friends as IQ) is a unique detective character. He doesn‘t have a Ph.D. like Alex Cross. Or a PI‘s license like Kinsey Millhone. He‘s just a guy who dropped out of high school because he had to pay the bills. Isaiah is an Everyman character who feels universal, if you don‘t count his gigantic intellect and reasoning skills. Strong 3.0

IamIamIam I was debating on this because B&N had it for $5! 6mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage @IamIamIam It‘s worth $5, I think. Someone said book 2 in the series isn‘t as good. But I may still try it. 6mo

An alternate history of post civil war US where the sudden emergence of zombies sends the country spiraling back toward hated & slavery instead of beginning the slow shift toward embracing changing values. Filed with interesting characters from all backgrounds & all sides of the political spectrum in this world. While there were clearly villians & heroes the heroes were flawed & the villains were (sometimes) sympathetic. Really well done.

BarbaraTheBibliophage Oooh. Good pick. I might use this one if my other option doesn‘t pan out! 6mo
hermyknee Yes! I loved this one and I can‘t wait until the next book comes out - I just looked it up, book 2 will be out February 2020 (edited) 6mo

My new audiobook listen as of today. Already like it a lot! #letterI #litsyatoz

MicheleinPhilly I really liked this one and I don‘t know why I haven‘t continued the series yet. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6mo
Allietaylor16 I loved this one! 6mo
AlaMich This was a great book! But I only got about 30 or so pages into the sequel before I bailed. It seemed scattered and unpolished to me, as though he rushed it through. YMMV 6mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage @MicheleinPhilly I do that all the time with series books. I want to string out the goodness, or I just get sidetracked and never get back. 6mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage @AlaMich Oh, that‘s a bummer about book two. But so far I‘m enjoying this one. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 6mo

Dark and twisty like most Nordic Noir, this was a really great read for me because the twist was a surprise. I read a lot of murder mysteries so that doesn't always happen much anymore. This is a multiple POV narrative format by chapter so it's kind of a slow burn; you're not quite sure where the threads are going until you see them all pulled together in the end. If you like Jo Nesbø or Henning Mankell, do pick this up. #LitsyAtoZ #LetterI

This hovered between a pick and so-so, but I ended up giving a pick because of Night Vale's overall entertaining weirdness. I think this would have worked better for me as an audiobook, read like the podcasts I've enjoyed before. 3 💥💥💥 out of 5
