Wild at Whiskey Creek
Wild at Whiskey Creek: A Hellcat Canyon Novel | Julie Anne Long
7 posts | 5 read | 5 to read
Everyone knows the Greenleaf family puts the “Hell” in Hellcat Canyon—legend has it the only way they ever leave is in a cop car or a casket. But Glory Greenleaf has a different getaway vehicle in mind: her guitar. She has a Texas-sized talent and the ambition (and attitude) to match, but only two people have ever believed in her: her brother, who’s in jail, and his best friend . . . who put him there. Sheriff Eli Barlow has secretly been in love with Glory since he was twelve years old. Which is how he knows her head is as hard as her heart is soft—and why she can’t forgive him for fracturing her family . . . or forget that night they surrendered to an explosive, long-simmering passion. But when a betrayal threatens Glory’s big break, Eli will risk everything to make it right . . . because the best way to love the girl from Whiskey Creek might mean setting her free forever.

This was a lovely romance, with a classic good guy love interest. I can't believe it took me so long after reading Hot in Hellcat Canyon to read this! Very enjoyable, though it lacks the scintillating wordplay of her first in the series. (There is a face-off using song titles, though, which is pretty awesome.)

Next book comes out next month, and I can't wait!

Chachic I tried a sample of Hot in Hellcat Canyon and it didn't really help me decide if I should buy it.😂 I've heard good things about it from other Litsy posts. 7y
ScientistSam @Chachic for what it's worth, I loved it! Maybe wait for a sale to try? 7y
Chachic Yeah I was thinking of waiting for a sale for it! I should read the other romance books I already have on my Kindle instead of looking for new ones.😑 7y

EloisaJames I really loved it too but it wasn't as explosive as the first one. I thought maybe because no alpha movie star? But maybe you're right and it was repartee. 7y
BookThingo @Chachic I loved Hot in Hellcat Canyon, fwiw. I need to read this next book. 7y
Chachic @BookThingo Thanks for letting me know, another vote for that book! Fingers crossed it will go on sale soon. 7y
ScientistSam @EloisaJames I agree that this didn't have quite the same emotional impact as the first. Hard to beat Hot in Hellcat Canyon! 7y
ScientistSam @Chachic Her next contemporary is out end of August. Maybe there'll be a sale around that - one can hope! If not, I think you should take the plunge and get it😉 7y

Such a fun romance to read! Eli and Glory danced around each other ratcheting up the tension for most of the book. I loved the HEA in this book for all of the characters.

No sophomore slump in this second installment in Long's Hellcat Canyon-Whiskey Creek series. Glory Hallelujah Greenleaf and Deputy Eli Barlow smoulder and snarl at each other till they lay down their arms and let their lifelong romance finally blossom. Long's musician roots show in Glory's choice of songs as she reaches for her singer dreams. Small town Americana romance at its best, especially for fans of Susan Elizabeth Phillips. #romantsy

EloisaJames I agree--lots of fun and very SEP! 8y
Jaya Right? Gave me good book hangover! So glad I have #MarianaZapata 's new one to follow it up or I'd mope around :) 8y
