That exciting moment when you get your library card!!!
Just wish I could actually go inside the building and inhale that library smell ❤🙂

A lot has happened since my last post. The virus. Being declared an essential worker.
The biggest change is I accepted a transfer to a new city! I start in my new store on Monday. I am excited, and overwhelmed (still haven't found a place to live), and sad to leave my old store.
Hopefully my reading mojo will return as well because since the virus started I have read just 1 book.
Biggest highlight was becoming an aunt in 2014.
Paired back my reading goals from last year. My new job keeps me pretty busy so I set a goal for 25 books
I grew up in the South. We're supposed to eat ham hocks, greens, black eyed peas, and cornbread. Alas I live in the Midwest now so I had ham, cabbage, potatoes, and cornbread.
When you catch a mistake in a book.
Every knitter learns garter stitch first because it's easy. It's just the knit stitch.
Then you learn stockinette because that involves purling.
Rachel Maddow is a master at researching. I love watching how she connects things on her show and this book is no different. Definitely a must read for political junkies.
The idea that fast food workers aren't real.
Yes we are real! We have feelings and deserved to be treated with respect and kindness. You have no idea why a person is working where they are. I guarantee the jerks wouldn't tolerate being demeaned, get stuff thrown at them, be yelled at, or get spit on at their job.
This!!! You can't be a caring person in fast food. What made me a good manager in that I cared for my employees, ate me up on the inside. I couldn't sleep thinking about what was going wrong at the store at that moment. I would get sick in the morning thinking about how short staffed I was for that day and how this would affect everyone. I couldn't read anything right before I quit because my brain wouldn't stop thinking about work.
Emily just had food thrown at her. Reading this section on McDonald's has my heart pounding remembering the last 6 months at Wendy's. I was cussed at daily, had food thrown at me, and was spit at. God. I am so glad I walked away. That job was slowly turning me into an angry unrecognizable person.
This book is already striking a chord with me and I am less than 10 pages in. I have worked service jobs pretty much my entire life and even though I am a manager I still see and have experienced what is going on. 8 years of working in fast food means I can handle almost anything
1. A Song of Ice and Fire. It's a huge book to read.
2. Gone with the Wind. Probably read a dozen times
3. According to Goodreads I have a tbr of about 1700 books
4. Siege by Michael Wolff. Meh. Save your money and borrow it from the library

I started my new job this week and it is awesome. Hard work and lots to learn but I am so excited. The store I am training in rotates weekends off, which I can't tell you the last time I had a weekend off at my other job. I have a set day off every week. We are closed major holidays so I get Labor Day off plus a comp day since I am salaried & don't technically get holiday pay. ❤❤❤❤
Always enjoy learning a new word. Not that I will be using this in my every day vocabulary
"A good looking man perks the day up"
??
Third book I picked up today and stuck with. The others were by favorite authors but just wasn't hitting my reading mood.
I always said I can't do audio books. Mainly because I became too involved in the story to pay attention to what I am doing (mainly driving). The last #24B4Monday I decided to do an audio book to listen to while I knit. The result is pure enjoyment combining my 2 favorite hobbies. ❤🙂
I was informed tonight that Aldi carries a wine called Outlander. Yes named for the series is what I was told.
If I drink it will Jamie show up wearing a kilt????
I am over the moon with happiness! I got offered the job with the company I really wanted to work for!!!!!!!!!
This book hit on so many high notes I lost count! Acceptance, love, a woman President. I really enjoyed how the relationship developed between Alex and Henry as well.
Enjoying my book hangover
I made a huge mistake. I sat down with this book at lunch. Figured I would start it while I ate a sandwich. Needed to run a few errands. Finished lunch and said oh one more chapter. Came up for air at 5:30 when my stomach rumbled (and grocery shopping was on my errand list)

Listening to a podcast (The Oath with Chuck Rosenberg). Absolutely fascinating to listen to Comey discuss the leadership qualities of W. and Obama vs Trump. He points out that Bush and Obama were both confident men who listened to their advisers and showed humility.
Save your money and check this out from the library. Nothing new here. His only source seems to be Steve Bannon, who gleefully sings like a canary to promote his own scary agenda.
Spent part of my afternoon knitting and listening to the play away of this book. Check my phone to see alert from CNN about the shooting in El Paso. 🙁🙁🙁💔💔💔
When you spot a research error in a book...
Minimum wage in Illinois is 8.25 an hour. Close but no cigar.
Time to dive into this jewel.
I have to say I love Uncle Joe but in this election Mayor Pete has my vote.
I have been out of work for 1 1/2 months. My choice. Decided to leave a toxic environment.
Today I had 2 interviews and got 2 job offers.
Tomorrow I have 2 more interviews and I HOPE I get a job offer from a midwestern retailer.
Just happy to be employed again. 😊
Who donates a signed book? I keep mine on a special shelf.
*side note: I once had lunch with Misty Evans and several other writers that a friend had done PA work for. I was too overwhelmed to ask for an autograph. I kept wanting to shout to the restaurant at Starved Rock Lodge "Don't you realize who you are eating lunch with?"
That was an odd scene to read. Elaine's love interest , Sam, leaves their foreplay session to go put on a condom in the bathroom. This of course give Elaine time to snoop in his room.
Final total for #24B4Monday. Finished one book and got into the double digits so I am happy.

Wait. In his last book Wolff said Trump ate cheeseburgers in bed. Is he eating dinner in bed?
Hmmm. That's an odd paragraph. Everything I have read about Meadows and McCarthy says that they are friends. Just a lot of jockeying for position within the GOP since they both want to be the leader.
My GoT inspired shawl (pattern is Find Your Fade). I have made a big boo boo somewhere. Going to have to consult the yarn doctors (knitters in my group with 50+ years of knitting) to see if it can be fixed.
Colors you see from left to right: Poseidon's Wrath (ok not GoT but the sea is very important in the series), Arya, The Hound, and Tormund.

Book 1 completed in #24B4Monday
And I also now have a book hangover. 😊
😂😂😂 Omg! This is my local newspaper. The paper can post an article about a concert at the high school and suddenly someone is complaining about Obama and the snowflake Liberals
The main characters are in a desert and mention hearing a kangaroo rat digging in the sand. So not knowing what one looked like I googled it. The words cute and rat should not be in the same sentence. Just saying.
It's that time again!
I am going to try to finish 3 books (I have no idea which ones but I currently have a HUGE stack checked out from the library).
Also going to attempt an audio book. Usually not a fan but I am in the middle of knitting a GoT inspired shawl so...

Why so I keep picking books with bats in them?? Not only does one attack Thay but he catches it and eats it. 😱🦇🤢
I currently have 34 books checked out from my library. I keep wondering what the limit is but so far haven't hit it apparently.
(And apparently my library isn't on Litsy to tag this post. 🙁)
So I thought Ami was perhaps a fallen angel like it seems Seth is. Nope. She's an alien. Despite the fact that I hate reading science fiction it actually blends in quite nicely with the story line.
Why do authors who have Southern characters insist on using y'all as singular???? For the love of sweet tea y'all is plural!!!!!
I am not sure how I feel about Zander calling Callia a murderer because he thinks she had an abortion. I get that the characters come from a ultra conservative society but it still makes me feel uncomfortable.
1. Tagged in post
2. I try to avoid cheetos since a certain person got elected here in the U.S
3. Both. But I see the sunset more.
4. Honestly, I would spend it on my car loan. 1k would just about pay it off.
5. I can't think of a favorite grade in elementary school. I guess I will say 1st since back in the 80s that was when we were taught to read.
