Today has been hectic, and I feel like I barely had a minute to just breathe, so tonight I will dig into a new book/series and hopefully settle down my chaotic brain enough to get a couple hours sleep before travel starts early tomorrow

Argh! I tried NOT to start a new series until I finished one already in progress. This sounded so good that I could not put it off further.

DCI Evan Warlow had taken early retirement, but was called in to help out when bodies were discovered that matched the descriptions from his old unsolved missing persons case. Great mystery, great characters, great setting. Looking forward to the next one….
I blame #serieslove2023 😂

TheSpineView I have this series on my list to read this year. Great job! 13mo
Bluebird @TheSpineView it was definitely worth adding to my massive series list… 13mo

#November #12Booksof2022

November was another month in which I very much focused on series reading. Loved the tagged book which was the first book in the DCI Evan Warlow Series set in Wales. As a result this has made my #SeriesLove2023 list @TheSpineView

Notable others :
The Killing Code by J D Kirk
Fleshmarket Close by Ian Rankin
Snowed In For Christmas by Sarah Morgan

TheSpineView Sounds good! Stacked! 1y
Andrew65 @TheSpineView Think you should enjoy it, only 5 or 6 so far. 1y

Finally read this one! I love the rugged Welsh countryside and an intriguing detective series. This is the first book in a series like that! Retired at 50 Ewan enjoys walking with his dog, but he‘s drawn back to police work, and the rest is history. Great story, quirky characters, and seaside Wales is one of the great characters. Could have been a bit shorter.

EadieB I liked this one too! 1y

When a landslip on Pembrokeshire‘s stunning coastal path reveals the harrowing remains of two bodies, ex-DCI Evan Warlow‘s quiet retirement is shattered. Evan is recalled to help with what is now a murder inquiry. Working with a new young team, Warlow peels away the layers to reveal the dark and rotten heart that beats beneath the chocolate box tranquillity of an area renowned for its quiet beauty.

EadieB But does he still have what it takes to root out the monstrous truth before all hell lets loose?
This is a dark, gripping atmospheric tale which sent me reading into the night. I especially enjoyed reading about DCI Evan Warlow, retired at age 50 and who walks his dog, Cadi, on the Pembrokeshire coast of Wales.

EadieB The story has twists and turns that kept me guessing about The Engine House. I can't wait to read the next in the series. If you like mystery with humor with your thrillers, you will enjoy this book. 2y
