This biography was about William Carlos. William Carlos grew up in New Jersey and he often enjoyed writing Poetry but unfortunately poetry didn't pay much. William Carlos attended medical school were he became a Doctor. He treated many babies and children however, he continued to write his poetry at the end of his busy day.

DrSpalding I really like the idea of using books like this as mentor text and extending the learning by having children write their own poems. Helpful website resource. 3y

This book, a Caldecott Honor book, is a biography about a man and his journey in becoming a poet.

I personally would use this in an older age group, because it is a complex and uninteresting book for children in lower elementary.

Now when he wrote poems, he felt as free as the Passaic River as it rushed to the falls. Willie's notebooks filled up, one after another.

This is a Caldecott honor award book. It is about a poet and his journey to being able to make a living while continuing his passion. It‘s interesting to think how he‘s famous for poetry but was a medical doctor in his life career. The pictures compliment the story of William really well.

The pages and illustrations in this story were really creative! They reminded me of vision boards or collages.

This book was super cool. I think it showed an interesting perspective of someone mixing art with science. I did not know who Willian Carlos William was until reading this and now I want to learn more!

This is a super cool book because it is about someone who is a successful doctor but still chooses to do poetry. It shows that all passions are important and should be supported.

quote

Willie took out his pen and his notes. He sat down and looked at the words...and shaped them into poems.

I enjoyed the illustrations in this book, it was almost like a collage of pictures. I thought it was very fun and creative.

This book is about William Carlos Williams and how he wrote his poems. His words gave him freedom and peace but he also knew he needed to earn money to live. So he went to medical school and became a doctor but never stopped writing poetry.

my favorite thing of the book is the facts in the back. I like that you could use the book for research projects as well

I really liked this one. I like how he made one path of being a doctor which Is liked at as a great job but still wasn't happy because he wasn't using his passions. I think its a good message

I really liked how the illustrations were set up in this book. They are so unique and not like any others I've seen before. They are detailed, but simple at the same time. I also liked how there was poetry throughout the book as well.

I enjoyed this story about William Carlos Willams, and how he became a poet. This book really does a good job to telling the story of WCW's whole life and his writing. I will definitely include this in my classroom library.

This biography of a William Williams is so fun to read! He grew up writing poetry and then as an adult he became a doctor. Even though he had a great career as a doctor he still wrote poetry because it was his true calling. This book is great for kids because it shows them that all passions are meaningful and valuable.

I thought the book was inspirational but it would probably be more useful for older age groups such as upper elementary school because of how “abstract“ the book is (as far as it being a biography).

#PrinceOfJuly Day 4: #LittleRedCorvette reminded me of William Carlos Williams‘ Red Wheelbarrow glazed with rain water. This beautiful picturebook shares the story of Williams‘ life in a way that would make it accessible even to very young readers and make the older ones marvel at how one‘s passion would find a way to make itself manifest despite one‘s best intentions and seemingly-predictable and structured lifestyle. 4⭐️ This is an interesting look at an interesting man. William Carlos Williams is remembered most for his poetry, but he made his poetry in his spare time, and spent his life as a doctor. This was an interesting story, and left me with more knowledge of a man who use to just be a name on a piece of paper.
