This is a must read! This story is about three young girls who travel back to Oakland, California to meet their mom for the first time whom abandoned them. The father of the girls gave money for them to used on the trip however, the mom takes all of it and give them a daily allowance. The Mom was part of the Black Panther Club and she gets arrested and the girls are once again left on their own.

I am currently reading Blended as a part of my Book Club and I really enjoyed it This book is about a young girl who is trying to find herself all while her parents are going through a divorce. The young girl also finds herself in a confused place with school when they begin talking about history and this is hard for her since she comes from two different cultures.

This is such a cute book to incorporate in the classroom, this book can be used for a multi culture day. I think it is important for students to know about their classmates and where they come from.

In society today, people have so many views on what is appropriate for boys and girls based on their stereotypes and I think we need to start breaking down those judgements. In my classroom I want all of my students to love what the like without having to hide things. This is a great book to bring students together and support one and another,

I remember being in Elementary this use to be one of my books and we would do such unique activties after we read the story. The story is about a Jewish Farmer who wore a striped overcoat and the farmer who use the material of the jacket to make other clothing items he may have needed. This story teaches children you can always make something out of nothing.
