Eamon goes to his grandparents house for the summer with his friend James. During the summer the boys go to go hiking, to the beach and just simply enjoy nature with one another. This is such a great book to read to students to get them to be creative and use their imagination.

A Mother Duck hatches her eggs and one duckling that was hatched was perceived as ugly to the other farm animals. The duckling was taunted by the other farm animals and wandered away from the from meeting a variety of animals. The Duckling eventually matures and looks at the reflection in the Pond and realizes he is actually a beautiful swan.

DrSpalding This is certainly another classic and you could meet English learner 42 to sequence the important events in the story. Traditional literature teaches so many lessons to children and certainly belong in our elementary classrooms. 3y

This biography was about William Carlos. William Carlos grew up in New Jersey and he often enjoyed writing Poetry but unfortunately poetry didn't pay much. William Carlos attended medical school were he became a Doctor. He treated many babies and children however, he continued to write his poetry at the end of his busy day.

This is such a great holiday read! A young boy is awaken by the sound of a train and he goes outside and notices there is a train waiting for him. He climbs aboard and he sees other children wearing pajamas and their on a journey to the North Pole to see Santa Claus .

Sdemps This book brings back so many fond memories and this is a great book for a RA. Students will be very engaged while listening to this story. You have also included a valuable resource for teachers you use with this book. 3y
DrSpalding Kelly, I like the idea of utilizing this book in a social studies lesson. Clearly it is a book that can be used in a holidays around the world social studies unit but utilizing a globe and or Google earth would also work nicely with a biome unit in science. 3y

This is a must read! This story is about three young girls who travel back to Oakland, California to meet their mom for the first time whom abandoned them. The father of the girls gave money for them to used on the trip however, the mom takes all of it and give them a daily allowance. The Mom was part of the Black Panther Club and she gets arrested and the girls are once again left on their own.

This book won the Coretta Scott King award .This book was about Slaves in New Orleans who were able to gather on Sundays in Congo Square and they were able to sing, dance, and play music together. This was there one day for they were free from work for at least a half of day.

I am currently reading Blended as a part of my Book Club and I really enjoyed it This book is about a young girl who is trying to find herself all while her parents are going through a divorce. The young girl also finds herself in a confused place with school when they begin talking about history and this is hard for her since she comes from two different cultures.

I remember being in Elementary this use to be one of my books and we would do such unique activties after we read the story. The story is about a Jewish Farmer who wore a striped overcoat and the farmer who use the material of the jacket to make other clothing items he may have needed. This story teaches children you can always make something out of nothing.

This book was about a young girl who loved Lima Beans but she didn't want to eat them anymore because her friends didn't like them and she wanted to be like her friends.One day she wakes up with a case of stripes and the children started to tease her and she went to the Doctor and no one knew what to do until someone found the cure. The cure was to eat Lima bean again!

With St. Patrick's day approaching, what a fun story to read to the class. I love Pete the Cat Books and it hard for me not to have fun while reading these books. This a great way to introduce diversity and discuss other cultures in the classroom.
