Shes trying to establish herself as a major Psychic Operative in the NYC magic scene, and shell work the most gruesome gigs to claw her way to the top. Desperate to break the dead-end grind, Julie summons a guardian angel for a quick career boost. But her power grab sets off a deadly chain events that puts her closest friends and the entire galaxy directly in the path of annihilation. The Dead Take the A Train is a high-octane cocktail of Khaws cosmic horror and Kadreys gritty fantasyshaken, not stirred.

This Urban Fantasy is seeped in body horror with shades of dark academia, or the aftermath of dark academia. There‘s a trend I‘ve noticed (if 3 examples are a trend), an Ivy League education is a magic education, which invariably leads to a “job” in finance, evil finance. Idk, the lack of a magical middle class kinda makes me sad.

Mehso-so

While I really enjoyed Kadrey‘s Sandman Slim series, this magically monstrous NYC was a bit too chaotic for me. Though I enjoyed the audio performance, the large cast-size & references made me feel like I was missing something… Julie makes for a tough heroine, but the villains lack depth to their motivations. It feels like a cool and slick story, but I never really connected with any of the characters… gory imagery perfect for the #SpookySeason!

Just released today. Very excited for this one. I am a huge Richard Kadrey fan. Loved his Sandman Slim series. So this should be good with him being a co author.

I‘ve been picking nothing but winners!

It‘s got action! It‘s got cosmic horror! It‘s got some LGBTQIA+ rep! There‘s romance! All kinds of monsters! The MC is a foul-mouthed, cocaine snorting, vodka drinking, sarcastic, monster hunter named Julie Crews. The world‘s weirdly interesting, I want to know more! There‘s a little more horror in this one! Great narration! Ideal cover buy!

BRAVO!

Twainy @KT1432 it‘s a fun quick read but I‘m finding that the more work stresses me out … the crazier the books I‘m loving. ♥️ 1y
