Virago Book Of Ghost Stories
Virago Book Of Ghost Stories | Richard Dalby
Featuring stories by A.S. Byatt - Angela Carter - Lisa St Aubin de Teran - May Sinclair - Joan Aiken - Stella Gibbons - Edith Wharton - E.M. Delafield - Elizabeth Bowen - Ruth Rendell - and many more. This collection gathers together deliciously chilling tales from the three highly acclaimed volumes of Virago ghost stories. Here lost loves, past enmities and unwanted memories mingle with the inexplicable as unquiet souls return to repay kindnesses, settle scores and haunt the imagination. All of the writers demonstrate a subtle power to delight and chill at the same time as they explore the ghostly margins of the supernatural.

I've read a lot of #scarybooks in my time... but in recent years they've all been of the real world nonfiction variety... so I'm going to try to read some good old fashion ghost stories and horror fiction this autumn... hopefully these are good picks. #somethingforsept #septphotochallenge

StacksNShelves Good call! I'm trying to do the same this Fall too! I ordered a few Scary Story collections from the Book Depository! 8y
WordWaller HORRORSTOR!!! Want to read so bad! 8y
Joe_Jones A couple good fiction ones are Family Plot by Cherie Priest and The Boy Who Drew Monsters by Keith Donohue if you need any other suggestions. I keep forgetting to read Horrorstor! Thanks for reminding me. 8y
Eyelit @Joe_Jones thanks!! 8y

While we can certainly read spooky stories for #ghostsoflitsy all winter and fall, the "official" date for challenges, read-alongs, and the like will be Oct. 1st. I got this Virago book just of ghost stories by women, and it's got some fantastic spine tingling gems. We're still taking suggestions here! https://goo.gl/forms/J2W0TDc4W7gHmh2S2 #readwomen

TheLondonBookworm Woooo let the spooky times roll!! 8y
