#serieslove2024 The end of this trilogy gave me all the feels. Lin is trying to figure out who her allies and enemies are. War comes and the empire is at risk. I loved the different point of views we get and felt both completely heartbroken and happy at the same time with the ending. What a great series! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a fascinating world Andrea Stewart created in this trilogy! A world of floating islands, with magical creatures of multiple kinds, elemental magic, and plenty of political upheaval. Terrific characters, several I got pretty attached to. It was totally worth the year-ish wait between each book. I‘d recommend it, and I‘d read it again.

I discovered book 1 through Jenny Lawson‘s Fantastic Strangelings bookclub (through her Nowhere Bookshop.)

🎧 That‘s why the islands are sinking? I didn‘t see it coming. You were hoping you‘d get answers & you do!

The story begins 2 years after book 2. Lin & Jovis go through SO much! You really feel for them. Jovis was my favorite character, his arc was emotional. Many of the other characters are nicely fleshed out & you might find yourself understanding or hating less.

I loved the magic system. Felt unique.

Twainy The plot and world were intricate, complicated, multilayered.

I liked the multi POV chapters. It‘s easy to track in the audiobook as there‘s multiple narrators and chapter titles start with the character‘s name.

You get the answers you wanted from books 1 & 2. A great ending to a trilogy I‘ll read again!

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
The Bone Shard War completes The Drowning Empire trilogy, an epic fantasy saga with a truly original magic system and Chinese historical influences. I really loved book 1, book 2 added many characters viewpoints which I think diluted the story. I can see where the author was going, trying to add more diverse viewpoints, including great lgbtq+ representation.⬇️

Nessavamusic Book 3 has a slow start but the last third of the book is a non stop action sequence that had me truly worrying about my favorite characters. This third book connects all the different characters and all of their varying stories and goals and has some truly cinematic action sequences.⬇️ 2y
Nessavamusic I still say there are too many viewpoints in this story, and I think it would have been a tighter story focusing on our main two characters Lin & Jovis, I genuinely enjoyed this trilogy and would recommend. This is a perfect gateway fantasy for readers of YA who want to start on adult fantasy. 4⭐️ 2y
Meshell1313 Sounds great- just added the first one to my TBR! 2y
