pickAs good as book 1 in the series, this time our newly minted librarian is on the chase of a medieval mystery—who wrote, who owned, & who made the magical silver clasps of the Medici Manuscript? And what does its symbols mean? One reason I loved it is because I previously read The Bookseller of Florence in anticipation of my trip there, in which I learned vasts amounts about the making and selling of manuscripts & the Medici libraries. pickThis book is perfectly okay, nothing more. I like the characters, but Willie‘s attitude toward Sylvia is getting a little old. I am glad Archer didn‘t drag out the “is Gabe magical or isn‘t he” thing past this book. And some questions about Sylvia were resolved. A lot of Goodreads reviewers have liked the Glass & Steele series better, but I wasn‘t aware that this was a spin-off series, so I haven‘t read that one.
pickI thoroughly enjoyed this mystery involving the theft of a mysterious historical manuscript. The second book in The Glass Library series, there‘s an element of magic here, but it‘s not the focus of the story. Great ensemble of interesting characters. The third book comes out in September, and I just put in my preorder.
