Sunday morning reading. Halfway, there‘s a lot of the main character ! I know she is the MC , but still .. I‘m curious to see what happens though. Parts are really good , and other parts are YA ish and not as engaging.

I love a campus novel so wanted to read this - in fact, the later story was the better half, I thought.
In 1998 Ros‘s Regis uni roommate Megan goes missing in a terrible snowstorm and Ros is blamed for not looking after her.
Over 20 years later Ros‘s former partner is accused during the #metoo movement, leading Ros to look back on her life as a teenager, the mistakes she made and the lies we tell ourselves.
I raced through the first part, but the second part got repetitive. I think it could have been edited down for a more focused read.
1. Megan is derived from my Margaret, which was my grandmother's name.
2. One of my current reads (tagged) has a character named Megan, and I'm also reading Ordinary Human Failings by Megan Nolan, so Megan's abound in my reading world at the moment!

My #WeekendReads
The Damages - Scott is an alumni of the same university I attended, and this book's Regis University is a VERY thinly veiled stand-in!
Ordinary Human Failings - completely engrossed, fabulous audio narration, my heart is in my throat, and I can't turn away.
River East, River West - So far, so good, but overshadowed by my other reads. I like the choice to contrast Alva's story with her Lu Fang's.

This would be a great choice for a book club as I was left wanting to discuss so much about the issues raised in this novel. Set in two timelines, 1997-98 at a university and 2020 during the pandemic, the story deals with self image, friendship, trauma and consent. I enjoyed following the main character's growth from a self absorbed older teen to a slightly wiser, more aware mother, friend and daughter and felt the ending was realistic. 4/5 stars
