Fun romantic fantasy with monsters and mayhem.
Two thumbs up for both the author and for the narrator of the #audiobook.
Set in an alternative New York where monsters live, under a treaty, alongside humans; although there‘s a proud-boy-like group of monsters that want to return to the bad old days. Protagonist Kierse, a beautiful thief, and handsome beast Graves set out to steal a magical artifact but everyone has their own agenda. This book was a hoot from beginning to end. I also thought about calling it a romp, which it is. Definitely not for sheltered readers!

The Wren in the Holly Library - lovely cover, good idea, poor execution.
Need to think about which of the July/August books was worse than the other.
I‘m fairly new to the fantasy genre so I wasn‘t expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did. This one hooked me from the very beginning and it kept me entertained the whole way through. I definitely look forward to the next book. And this one is just gorgeous!
I love a good romantasy book, and this one is no exception. Monsters living amongst the humans with a Monster Treaty in place to prevent them from harming humans. But of course, not all of the monsters agree with this.
A woman discovers that she may be more than just a human. To find out more about herself, she teams up with a powerful monster to steal something for him.
The world building is so amazing, I can't wait for the rest of this series.
Just started…..so far so good. How I could I pass up a cover like that!!
Apparently, I‘m one of the few readers who picked this up not thinking that I was getting a Six of Crows story. Honestly, while reading this one I kept thinking about Discovery of Witches (generally a better book), it definitely has that vibe. The world building is solid, there are some interesting characters, relationships could have been a little more fleshed out, the reasons for things a little more clear. Still, an entertaining read.
Yes, this book is super pretty but I‘m happy to report that so far, 10 chapters in, it‘s also very entertaining.
I am EXACTLY the type of person this book was marketed for! Pretty page edges....features a mysterious library... Do I know anything about it other than that? Nope! Did I immediately buy it anyway? YUP! 🙈
