Ten Lords A-Leaping
Ten Lords A-Leaping: A Father Christmas Mystery | C. C. Benison
4 posts | 2 read | 2 to read
The delightful Father Tom Christmas returns, and the cozy hamlet of Thornford Regis comes to life, in C. C. Benisons witty, beautifully written series that is a must-read for lovers of classic English mysteries (Kirkus Reviews). Although Father Tom Christmas serves his little church in enchanting Thornford Regis with a glad and faithful heart, he never expects to find himself skydiving to raise money for it. Nor, safely back on the ground, to see two of the other divers leap from the plane, then tangle in a midair punch-up and begin falling to the earth. To say that there is tension between the men in questionOliver, the 7th Marquess of Morborne, and his brother-in-law Hector, the 10th Earl of Fairhavenwould be an understatement. But the trouble among this ancient landed family really began a generation ago, when a marquess divorced his first spouse to marry his brothers wife, fathering in his two marriages a vipers nest of arrogant young aristocrats. Now they have all turned up for the show to witness this shocking event in the sky. Thankfully the men land safely, but death will not be slighted. Much to Father Toms dismay, he later discovers Lord Morborne lying deceased on castle grounds. Rumors of bigamy, art forgeries, and upstairs/downstairs intrigue fly. So do whispers of unvicarly behavior between Tom and Olivers beautiful half-sister, Lady Lucinda. In fact, the vicar may be headed for a very hard landing of his own. C. C. Benison gives a virtuoso performance in this gripping new puzzle, a compelling and wise holiday mystery with the irresistible allure of hot tea and warm scones on a cold winters day. Praise for C. C. mcipher This sounds like an adorable series! Why are so many murder books so sweet!? It seems crazy. 😂 7y
Andrea4 @mcipher I think the "cozy murder/mystery" genre is great and hilarious! Also there was a book compilation of the best Christmas murder mysteries! ??? 7y
mcipher I love them even though it‘s silly. And anything holiday themed is just even better!! ❤️ 🎄 7y

This book features Jane Bee, the main character in another series by this author (one of my all-time favourites), so I was excited to read it. However, it felt overlong and repetitive, and Jane didn't sound like herself. Alas.

drokka @Cinfhen @PurpleyPumpkin @Caterina @DebinHawaii Thank you. @Gleefulreader It's called Twisted Band Sampler by Nicole Dostal. It's a Northern Expressions Needlework (code NEN019). This one is with specialty stitches, but there is a cross-stitch only version as well. I believe it can be purchased through the Nordic Needles websites in the US. I got it at my local shop here in London, Canada. 8y

Gleefulreader @drokka thank you for the information. I love speciality stitches. I'll have to look at the local shop closest to me, which is in Mississauga (Gita's). There is a good chance they might have it. 8y
drokka @Gleefulreader If not, check out the Thread & Eye website. They're just down the road in London (this was a stitch-a-long put on by them) 8y
drokka Oh and if you're not familiar with Nicole Dostal, she's from Sault Ste Marie (I think, somewhere that way) 8y
