"A hugely inventive adventure." Eoin Colfer, New York Times bestselling author of the Artemis Fowl series In a world where animals are slowly fading into extinction, twelve-year-old Kester Jaynes feels as if he hardly exists either. Hes been locked away in a home for troubled children and is unable to speak a word. Then one night, a flock of talking pigeons and a bossy cockroach come to help him escape, and he discovers that he can speakto them. And the animals need him. Only Kester, with the aid of a stubborn, curious girl named Polly, can help them survive. The animals saved Kester. But can he save them? "When ninety-nine pigeons smash through the windows of Kester's prison and carry him North to the last of the animals. it's a moment as thrilling as when James flies off in the Giant Peach. Highly recommended" The Times (UK) Combines a great fondness for animals with an appreciation of the freakish. The reserved narrative tone and tender yet peculiar view of animals give this piece its own offbeat flavor. Kirkus Reviews Alternately somber, thrilling, and silly. Publishers Weekly

The Last Wild trilogy (tagged book the first in the series) is an imaginative read for middle graders dealing with the human impact on the Earth. The hero is a boy called Kester who is mute, but he can communicate telepathically with animals. My son says he enjoyed this series! 👍

I almost forgot to mention what a beautiful wrapping job she did!!! @Mommamanzi

Mommamanzi Yay! I‘m glad you liked the wrapping! I have had lots of practice with all the birthdays on the family lately! 7y
ReadingRover @Mommamanzi I loved it!! Except that one where you left that tiny bit of the gift showing. That was a disappointment... 😂 I‘m just kidding!!! It was fabulous! I love the paper. At first I even thought you wrapped the soap too then I realized the paper wasn‘t the same. 🤪 7y

Omg! Check out this fabulousness from @Mommamanzi !!! Look at all the amazing and thoughtful things she sent me!!! I love everything! This is such a well though out gift! The books, the mug, the tea, the stickies, the markers and coloring book and especially the candle, soap and bath bomb!!! I love the scents which is unusual because I‘m super picky about scents!!! She has truly outdone herself!!! #bookmail #litsyfriends

Mommamanzi I am so glad you love everything. Penelope picked out the bath bomb for you (warning there is a little charm in it so don‘t freak out if you randomly see a pice or meta floating in the bath with you lol). I completely forgot to put the note in so you‘ll be getting a letter soon as well haha. My brain has turned to mush. ❤️ 7y
ReadingRover @Mommamanzi 😆That Penelope did an awesome job! I may need to hire her to help me pick out gift for people. That bath bomb smells really good! I really like the candle too!!! 7y
