Sorceress
Sorceress | Michael Scott
Nicholas Flamel appeared in J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter but did you know he really lived? And he might still be alive today!" "Discover the truth in Michael Scott s "New York Times" bestselling series the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel with "The Sorceress," book three. Nicholas Flamel's heart almost broke as he watched his beloved Paris crumble before him. The city was destroyed by Dee and Machiavelli, but Flamel played his own role in the destruction. Sophie and Josh Newman show every sign of being the twins of prophecy, and Flamel had to protect them and the pages from the Dark Elders. But Nicholas grows weaker with each passing day. Perenelle is still trapped in Alcatraz, and now that Scatty has gone missing, the group is without protection. Except for Clarent the twin sword to Excalibur. But Clarent s power is unthinkable, its evil making it nearly impossible to use without its darkness seeping into the soul of whoever wields it. If he hopes to defeat Dee, Nicholas must find an Elder who can teach Josh and Sophie the third elemental magic Water Magic. The problem? The only one who can do that is Gilgamesh, and he is quite, quite insane. Master yarnspinner that he is, Scott expertly cranks up the suspense while keeping his now-large cast in quick motion .This page turner promises plenty of action to come. "Kirkus Reviews" Read the whole series! "The Alchemyst" "The Magician" "The Sorceress" "The Necromancer" "The Warlock" "The Enchantress" "From the Hardcover edition.""

I'm conflicted on this... I want to know how everything plays out but I wouldn't say I'm really enjoying the books. Josh is a little whiny and I'm starting to feel like Scott is cramming too many figures and types of monsters/creatures in. It's a lot to keep track of. I suspect this would make a better movie/tv show than book?

Although I missed Scatty, it was still a nice part. Josh is finally able to do magic, I liked having Shakespeare there and it's always nice to have some more time with Perenelle. I also really enjoy the multiple perspectives, so we get to see the good side and the bad side. Gilgamesh could have had some more pages, but he was still a fun part. The ending of the epilogue is very exciting! Looking forward to the next part!

This book was another fascinating installment from this wonderful series. As the story has progressed, more and more interesting supporting characters have been added, and it is a testament to the authors talent that the storyline remains interesting, the historical facts remain on point and the reader (or at least me, anyway) cares more and more for the twins (while having mixed feelings for the Flamel). #recentlyread #nospoilers #YAFANTASY

This series has all the elements of greatness, but it just keeps missing the mark for me somehow. I'm trying my hardest to emotionally invest in these characters but they just don't connect with me. I will read to the end of the series and continue to hope.

As usually, Michael Scott has done an amazing job of combining history, mythology, and good old fashioned storytelling. If you haven't discovered this series yet, get reading.

I absolutely LOVE that Michael Scott has gone off and made Shakespeare literally immortal! #cheeky #shakespeare #michaelscott #theaorceress #secretsoftheimmortalnicholasflamel

GingerAntics @readinginthedark it combines history, mythology, and fantasy into this really interesting combination. The reading level isn't hard at all, but they're fairly chunky books. The whole series takes place in less than a month. It's awesome. 7y
readinginthedark Very cool, I didn‘t know the storyline was so fast. I might pick them up on audio so I can read it faster. Which is the first one, The Alchemyst? 7y
GingerAntics @readinginthedark yeah The Alchemyst is the first one. If you have an iPhone you can actually make siri read to you. It's not quite as pretty, but it's not bad and you get more control over the speed. I generally have siri read to me at 3x-4x normal speed. Check to see if there is an audio book of The First Codex (books 1-3 in one volume). It's cheaper to buy the ebooks that way. 7y
GingerAntics @readinginthedark however you get them, I would suggest always having the next book handy, because none of the books have an ending at all (accept the last one), they literally just stop, and the next continues. It's like a bloody "to be continued" sign at the end of 5 episodes of a TV show in a row. lol 7y
readinginthedark 😂That‘s hilarious! I am the champion of long breaks between series books, but I‘m trying to be better about it. My library does a good job of having all of the books in a series, at least. 7y
GingerAntics @readinginthedark I'm usually that way, too. These have this power to just keep me going until the end, because there is just no resolution. It's like they just ran out of paper, but not. lol 7y

I seem to be booking it right through this series the second time around (no pun intended). I'm loving it so much, and picking all sorts of tiny little details I missed the first time around when I was more focused on the story line. I need some sleep, but then this one will be started. #thesorceress #michaelscott #secretsoftheimmortalnicholasflamel
