Telling the story of a farmer and his family making and selling goods at market, this Caldecott Medal awardee is simply wonderful. Folk art-ish illustrations accompany Hall‘s famous poem about the 8-month cycle of preparation for market day. I‘m glad I stumbled across this one! #BBRC #PictureBook #LetterO

This is a story that comes very full circle. The beginning of the book takes a moment for you to decipher where the story is beginning. I can see how this would be a bit boring for children but J think that they would still enjoy

I liked this book. I think it told a dun story about what its like to live on a farm and how much work goes into it but I wasn't super impressed

I was confused early on in the direction of the book, but after completion I really enjoyed this book. I like the full circle story that made every page worth it. I would rate this book a PICK for Early Childhood, specifically for 2nd and 3rd graders.

Caldecott Medal Book. This book was simple and fast paced read. It was about a journey of ox-cart man and his family. The illustrations were greatly detailed and needed for this story.

This book was one that I had when I was little. I don‘t think that I ever actually read it but I do remember I loved to get it out just to look at the pictures.

This book is ALL about color. The use of colors are beautiful and are just aesthetically pleasing to look at. The illustrations themselves are simple but the color usage is amazing. This book could be used in a variety of different ways.

I read this to my son tonight (for the first time since I read it as a kid) and its peaceful rhythms and lovely pictures make it a perfect bedtime book. All the Reading Rainbow books totally stand the test of time, if you were wondering.
