I rarely listen to audiobooks. Except, of course, when it‘s a Malcolm Gladwell book read by Malcolm Gladwell. I was actually offered the hard copy of this from the library 3 months ago, but I declined and stayed on the waitlist until the audiobook was available. This dive into social epidemics and tipping points and how the overstories we create lead us in directions that are both unexpected and predictable was worth the wait.

All of Malcom‘s research was fascinating as always! A great look into the tipping point and I wasn‘t lost not having read the original.

I only listen to Gladwell for the stories now - they are always interesting. But I haven‘t really gotten much other than entertainment from his books for a while.

We don‘t actually have this snow anymore - I‘m just terribly behind on posting reviews.

The final two books of 2024:
November - The Bound World by Megan O'Keefe was the end of The Devoured Worlds trilogy, and while I didn't think it was as good as the first two books, the ending was satisfying and we even got a happy ending.
December- Revenge of the Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell. What can I say about Gladwell that hasn't been said before? He's an automatic read author for me.

Very good!

The lion‘s share of my reads fall between a 4.0 (solid B) to a 4.75 (solid A) reflecting I enjoy most of what I read. I developed my quarter-point system after realizing my yearly GR average indicated a score well below my actual enjoyment level.

5* = Loved It, want to shout out loud about this book! I do/will own/keep a physical copy. A+

How Gladwell weaves together events to explain the human experience amazes me. Here for example we get 1980 LA bank robberies, Palo Alto CA‘s experiment in racial integration, the cheetah monoculture, how Miami became what it is today, the rapid acceptance of gay marriage, the magic third, the superspreaders who play an outsized role in propagating ideas or lies, the Harvard admission process, triplicate prescriptions and the opiate crisis.

3/4 of our home library is nonfiction because he has no shelf control😂 Not that I mind.

I use the library a lot and tend to buy fiction as ebooks, but I love having lots of books surrounding us. Books make the best decor!

I read a lot of long books and a high percentage of nonfiction in September.

🤯 The man gives the most interesting information and draws connections between the seemingly most unrelated things ever! The delivery, however, didn't feel as smooth and seamless as in his past books. It felt more podcasty, and I wonder if the audiobook would've been smoother🤷🏻‍♀️ Still, a very worthy read.
