Mehso-so

I really like Uzma Jalaluddin's books, and this one was ok but not my favorite. This is the first of her cozy mysteries I've read.

When her daughter is accused of murder, Kausar Khan immediately travels to stay with her daughter and grandkids to help out and try to solve the murder.

Thank you for this interesting list, @DebinHawaii! I've read a few already and some, like the four on the right, you might have plucked from my TBR.

I'm looking forward to getting to them in January (and probably throughout next year).

This was fun but nothing amazing. I did enjoy Kausar‘s reveal of how things went down at the end but overall, the book felt long and I had a hard time getting into it.

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

Finished this week for September‘s #Roll100 #95 Any Mystery. I‘m a fan of the author‘s other books, especially her Jane Austen Muslim retellings set in Toronto‘s Golden Crescent. This is her first foray into cozy mysteries & I really enjoyed it. Kausar is a 50-something widow who heads back to Toronto after almost 20 years after her daughter is accused of murder. Loved the characters & the way this one had me guessing.⬇️

DebinHawaii … I‘ll happily read the next one! 3mo

Uzma Jalaluddin has outdone herself: fascinating characters, excellent mystery plot w/ many threads, and a lovingly rendered setting. An aunty returns to Toronto when her daughter's landlord has been found murdered in her store. Gentrification, police incompetence/bias/immorality, grief, marriage/divorce in Muslim communities, friendship, family. I absolutely loved this, as thoughtful as it is page-turning. Standout #audiobook performance!

IriDas This looks great. 7mo
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @IriDas it's the first in a planned series, so i hope we get more! 7mo
