Seems incredible May is almost over! Thanks to everyone who‘ve participated in #ShelfSweeper it has been great seeing all the books that have been read! I‘ve been thinking a lot about Elisabeth too, and how fragile life is #4Elisabeth What should we do in June? I‘ll be reading lots of South African books, but would be happy to do a readathon or buddy read or something. What about you?

Ruthiella Adorable pooch! ❤️🐶 I will be attending #CampLitsy25 in June, plus I have 4 other group reads going on: #hashtagbrigade #nancydrewbr #EBBR and #KLBR . 😅 5d
Bookwormjillk Thank you so much for hosting! I‘m going to keep going trying to clear my shelves in June. 5d

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

I finished this one, #4 in the series a couple of Sundays ago for #EBBR & I have got to start reviewing them right when I finish or at least take notes because of course I‘ve already forgotten the 2 cases (I think) that I didn‘t get right. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ Even reading the list of cases, I don‘t remember at all. No matter, they still make for a great Sunday night #HyggeHour read.

TheSpineView Well done! 🤩📖📚 7d
DieAReader 🎉🎉🎉 7d
Ruthiella They slip out of my brain too unless there‘s something special about the solution that jogs my memory. 😅 6d

repost for @Ruthiella:

Hello #EBBR armchair detectives! I hope all are having a good weekend, especially if you're in the US and have Monday off. This is a quick reminder to get your mitts on the book for June.

I vaguely recognize the cover of this one, so may have read it before? 🤔 We‘ll see if anything feels familiar.

This monthly #buddyread is open to all! If anyone would like to be added to or removed from the tag list, let me know. 😃

Ruthiella Thank you! 😊 1w

Hello #EBBR armchair detectives! I hope all are having a good weekend, especially if you are in the US and have Monday off. This is a quick reminder to get your mitts on the next book for June.

I vaguely recognize the cover of this one, so may have read it before? 🤔 We‘ll see if anything feels familiar when I dive in.

This monthly buddy read is open to all! If anyone would like to be added to or removed from the tag list, let me know. 😃

Sace I‘ve got my mitts on my copy! I look forward to starting every month with Encyclopedia Brown 😊 1w
Ruthiella @Sace It‘s also something I fondly anticipate each month. It‘s a small vacation from heavier books. 😊 1w
MatchlessMarie I must have missed this challenge when you first posted it! I started rereading these in order a few years back. It was one of my favorites as a kid but never read them in order. I‘d love to join yall once you get to book 14 - EB Carries On. That‘s where I left off on my reread. But I‘ll be creeping the hashtag for discussions 👀 1d
Ruthiella @MatchlessMarie So happy to have you on board! I will add you to the tag list. 😃 1d

Hello reading friends. I hope you all had fun reading this month‘s #EBBR book. I missed the solutions for three of the cases! 😅 My powers of deduction seem to be getting worse!

I must say, winning a pie a day for a month in The Case of the Blueberry Pies sounded delicious! 🥧😋

Sace I think I missed solutions to two of them. I missed the penguin one. I‘m a little embarrassed by that 😂. 2w
TheAromaofBooks I was so confused about who really thought it was a good idea to stuff kids full of pie and then make them run as fast as they can 😂 2w
Ruthiella @Sace The penguin one was the only one I remember from childhood, I think it‘s how I learned that difference between the North and South Poles! 😅 (edited) 2w

Ruthiella @TheAromaofBooks Yes, running a race after scarfing down an entire pie seems like a bad idea. 😅 But the reward I can get behind! 2w
DGRachel I am sorry to be late to commenting. I think I was typing something, got called away, and then…life. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I didn‘t track how I did, but I think I missed half. 🤣🤣 I will say that I did enjoy the light reading without trying too hard to pay attention. I remember thinking-only boys would be insane enough to eat all that pie and then run. (Totally sexist of me, I know, and I am a little ashamed of that) 1w
Ruthiella @DGRachel No worries! Life was certainly simpler for me when I first read these books! 😅 If the prize is a month‘s worth of pies, I think I would be tempted to compete! 😂 1w

I'm curious, Littens!
1) Most recent book(s) purchased
2) Last completed book from a library
Since I'm posting this, full transparency
1) A HPB book haul: Steinbeck's “Travels with Charley,“ Kosinski's “Being There,“ “DF Wallace Reader,“ “Virginia Woolf Box Set“ Harlan Ellison “Greatest Hits“
2) I Dnf a book (King's Killing Time), prior to that was the excellent “Before Watchmen: Nite Owl & Dr Manhattan “

monalyisha Hmm. Last NEW book purchased was Deep Cuts. Last library book completed was The Marmalade Diaries. Technically, my last book purchase was a haul, as well, though, from The Book Barn in Niantic, CT (which is one of my favorite places). Paperbacks are typically around $4. I bought a whole towering stack. 3w
CarolynM Linden Rise by Richmal Crompton from a second hand bookshop in Albury at a stop on the road trip home from Sydney. Books are what I spend my money on, I rarely use libraries. The last book I borrowed from a library was Stepford Wives for a Litsy readalong a few years ago because I literally could not find a copy to buy. (edited) 3w
TheKidUpstairs 1. I've been buying too many lately! Last purchase was yesterday: The Feast by Margaret Kennedy. 2. Last completed from the library was an audiobook: The Woman They Could Not Silence by Kate Moore 3w
See All 31 Comments
Deblovestoread 1) The Life of Herod The Great by Zora Neale Hurston. A #blameitonLitsy (specifically @TheBookHippie ) purchase. Most recent through Libby was 3w
shortsarahrose Just bought “Hyperbole and a Half” and “Solutions and Other Problems” by Allie Brosh yesterday. From the library, most recently finished “Tress of the Emerald Seas” by Brandon Sanderson 3w
Ruthiella I just bought “A Forgotten Home Child” for #OhCanada and last completed library book was for #EBBR 3w
BiblioLitten 1. Purchased Tom Lake by Ann Patchett and 2. Last Completed from the library was Still Life by Louise Penny. Both are #blameitonlitsy reads. 3w
Reggie 1. Eat the Ones You Love by Sara Maria Griffin and Overgrowth by Mira Grant. 2. I‘m in the middle of Say You‘ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez. I‘ll be done with it tomorrow. 3w
dabbe 1. Last book purchased for me: The Book of Alchemy: A Creative Practice for an Inspired Life by Suleika Jaouad. Have I looked at it yet? Nope. But it's a pretty cover!
2. Last completed book by a library: THE MAN IN THE BROWN SUIT by Agatha Christie. I just finished it last night! 🤩
Thanks for the fun questions! 😍
3w
IriDas 1) The book that held her heart by Makr Lawrence. 2) The God and the Gumiho by Sophie Kim (edited) 3w
BarbaraJean 1. Last book purchase was a book haul: four books from the NYRB children‘s book sale (Secret of the Ron Mor Skerry, The Little Bookroom, A Traveller in Time, and An Episode of Sparrows), which, like @Deblovestoread I can blame on @TheBookHippie 😆
2. Most recent library book is tagged—I read the audiobook through Libby
3w
Suet624 1. Life Became Very Blurry by Garrett Graff, Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy, Vermont by Charles T Morrissey (from 1981)
2. Demon Copperhead

You purchased some great books!
3w
Liz_M 1) Indy bookstore day: https://www.litsy.com/web/post/2860087
2) A Different Hurricane - set on and author from St. Vincent, a small Caribbean island-nation

vivastory @monalyisha I keep seeing posts about Deep Cuts & as a music lover am def. intrigued. Paperbacks with decent fonts are my preferred reading format now. When I was at HPB the other day they had a great selection of mass market lit fic. 2w
vivastory @CarolynM Outside of necessities, books are what I mostly spend money one too! What were your thoughts on the Levin? I read Rosemary's Baby a few months ago & loved it. 2w
vivastory @TheKidUpstairs Solidarity on the purchase! Lol. Kennedy is def on my radar as like many others I have really appreciated the explosion of Irish authors. 2w
vivastory @Deblovestoread Hurston is 100% on my list of authors to read by the end of the year. I recently bought a book of essays & am really looking forward to them 2w
vivastory @shortsarahrose Love Allie Brosh! I have read only one of Sanderson's secret project books: The Sunlit Man (a good entry point for those new to Sanderson, I think) but I have heard interesting things about Tess 2w
vivastory @Ruthiella Was not familiar with the #ohcanada selection but it sounds interesting! 2w
monalyisha @vivastory Decent fonts are so important! Most mass market fonts are too small for me. Every copy of The Ivy Tree by Mary Stewart that I‘ve ever gotten my hands on has been *so* hard to read. I keep hoping to find one that works! 2w
vivastory @BiblioLitten I was at a family dinner a few months ago & my cousin's partner was trying to convince my aunt (also a reader) to read TL (which I haven't read), but I did chime in with my enthusiasm of Patchett as Dutch House is one of my favorites from the past few yrs. I also have the Penny on my TBR & am eager to get to it! 2w
shortsarahrose Tress was my first Sanderson. It definitely made me want to read more! Adding The Sunlit Man to my TBR. 2w
vivastory @Reggie Mira Grant is so great. Looking at her site I see that she recently published a book in the Aliens universe. Def intrigued. Did you ever read anything from her Parasitology series? I only read bk 1 but it's a series I always meant to continue. 2w
vivastory @dabbe One of my favorite reads this yr so far was Christie's N or M? I used to read her somewhat regularly & it had been a couple of yrs since, nice to pick up one of her books again 2w
vivastory @IriDas I have heard only great things about Lawrence's library trilogy. It's something I def want to check out 2w
vivastory @BarbaraJean NYRB has so many great imprints 💙 2w
vivastory @Suet624 Demon Copperhead is high on my list! Thanks, Sue! I def lucked out. I like to rotate between the HPB locations, never know what treasures I'll find 2w
vivastory @Liz_M Red Pill is a favorite. Love that edition of the Woolf 2w
vivastory @shortsarahrose I've heard others say that you need to have read several books of The Stormlight Archives, but I only read bk 1 of TSA & was able to follow along fine. There's def references to the Cosmere, but it works as a standalone story IMO 2w
BiblioLitten @vivastory Dutch House was the reason I picked up TL. 😊 2w
Branwen I need to hear more about this Virginia Woolf boxset! 👀 2w

Another fun set of quick mysteries. Encyclopedia Brown does indeed always get his man, and in this one, he even solves an international mystery! I didn‘t pay close enough attention to solve very many of these, and maybe that made it more fun? I‘m just ready for Charlie‘s collection of teeth to disappear forever. What his mother did with them…🤢 #ebbr

Ruthiella Ah Charlie and his tooth collection. I did remember correctly that it was a running gag. Sorry that it makes you gag! 🤢 3w

1. Teacher Appreciation week brought me joy (and a tummy ache. I overindulged in treats)

2. I discovered that a lantana plant and a hosta that I thought had died are sprouting again.

3. Encyclopedia Brown for #EBBR. I‘ve made a habit of reading EB on the first day of every month.

4. Snuggly cats

5. Rain
