#EBBR

My solved to stumped ratio was particularly bad in this one! 😬 Though, IMO, none of the solutions were particularly convincing. Was the author running out of ideas, I wonder?

Also, it was unpleasant reading due to one incident of animal cruelty and racist portrayals of indigenous Americans. The fact that it was the Seminole, however, it does help geolocate Idaville as being in Florida or one of its neighboring states with a coastline.

DGRachel This one was definitely not my favorite and I‘m glad I‘m not the only one who thought some of the solved involved questionable logic. I remember thinking, “well, yes, that‘s true, but what about…”. 2d
Ruthiella @DGRachel Yes. The real mystery here is why the perpetrators confess so readily when faced with such flimsy “proof” of their crimes. 😅 2d
Read4life I‘m with you on this. I think this was the weakest in the series so far and by far my least favorite. 2d

Ruthiella @Read4life Let‘s hope the next one is better! 🤞 2d
Sace I‘m glad I wasn‘t the only one with fewer solves than usual! 1d
Ruthiella @Sace This does seem to be one of the weaker entries in the series. 1d

I try to make allowances for the time period in which these books are written, but the racism towards Indigenous people was too egregious to overlook and it crops up in more than one case. This is one I wish I‘d skipped. #ebbr

Ruthiella Yes, it was egregious in this one. 👎 1w

#weekendreads

I have a lot going on this weekend, but I hope to at least have enough time to finish the #ohcanada pick and #EBBR and #NancyDrewBR . Those are quick ones.

I‘m reading the Sarah Orne Jewett b/c of the podcast “One Bright Book” and it takes time to digest.

The bottom two are also slower for me #hashtagbrigade and #DoorstopKristen #KLBR .

KadaGul You are FULLY BOOKED 📚🤓📚 1w

June so far. Slower than May, but I managed a #bookspin book (Little Lies) and the next in the series for #EBBR.

I‘m so behind on a lot of buddy reads and Litsy happenings.

I can‘t believe it‘s June 7th & I haven‘t posted my May recap or June TBR yet! While I didn‘t get to everything I wanted to read in a very busy month, I managed to read 16 books & took part in: #SundayBuddyRead #SheSaid #NancyDrewBR #BobWhiteBuddies #EBBR
#AuthorAMonth #ChildrensClassicRead2025 #Roll100 (All 6 books!) #FictionalTraveler #ThematicCozies #MonthlyNonFiction2025 & several books for #SeriesLove2025

Read 12 fiction, 4 NF, 2 Audiobooks

DebinHawaii 3 Favorites were Everything is Tuberculosis, Summer at Tiffany & Look Before You Leap. 2w
MatchlessMarie You might start noticing tuberculosis references in everything else you read now, fair warning 😂 👀 2w
kspenmoll I have not gotten mine posted yet either 2w

Well I‘m pretty sure I probably did better as a kid for this one. Even though I wasn‘t on my game, I still really enjoyed another chance to hang with Encyclopedia.

I‘m not in a slump, but I‘m not reading as much as usual. I‘m not going to slow down on the #EBBR though! I‘ve got my journal page ready.

@Ruthiella

Ruthiella Yay! I wish you luck in solving the puzzles along side Encyclopedia. 😃 3w

Seems incredible May is almost over! Thanks to everyone who‘ve participated in #ShelfSweeper it has been great seeing all the books that have been read! I‘ve been thinking a lot about Elisabeth too, and how fragile life is #4Elisabeth What should we do in June? I‘ll be reading lots of South African books, but would be happy to do a readathon or buddy read or something. What about you?

Ruthiella Adorable pooch! ❤️🐶 I will be attending #CampLitsy25 in June, plus I have 4 other group reads going on: #hashtagbrigade #nancydrewbr #EBBR and #KLBR . 😅 4w

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

I finished this one, #4 in the series a couple of Sundays ago for #EBBR & I have got to start reviewing them right when I finish or at least take notes because of course I‘ve already forgotten the 2 cases (I think) that I didn‘t get right. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ Even reading the list of cases, I don‘t remember at all. No matter, they still make for a great Sunday night #HyggeHour read.

TheSpineView Well done! 🤩📖📚 4w
