Vision Vol. 2: Little Better Than a Beast
Vision Vol. 2: Little Better Than a Beast | Tom King
20 posts | 26 read | 1 reading | 9 to read
Once upon a time a robot and a witch fell in love. What followed was a tale of the dead and the dying, of the hopeful and the lost, of the wronged and the avenged. And in the end, after both had fallen, the witch and the robot rose from their dirt and eyed each other across a field of blood and bone. Forty-five years in the making, this is the story of Scarlet Witch and the Vision. Before family, there was love. And war. COLLECTING: VISION 7-12

I enjoyed this one a lot more than volume 1. Maybe it was because Vision and his family were more “human“ than the first comic. Plus backstory that was needed in book 1 with Wanda!!! Put together I enjoyed the story throughout and definitely a sad ending.

Finished this two comic run up. Definitely a thought provoking view on the character Vision!

Sad to see this series ended after just 12 issues, it was so different and unexpected and beautifully done. The conclusion is satisfying though, just enough closure with a back door for imagining what could be next. I‘ll definitely be checking out more of Tom King‘s work!

GrilledCheeseSamurai Tom King is on fire right now! 🔥 6y
danimgill @GrilledCheeseSamurai Do you have any faves of his that you‘d recommend? 6y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @danimgill the tagged book...Mister Miracle. It's not out until November though as it collects the series that is just winding up now. Sooo good. If you liked Vision you'll like that. Also...Batman (rebirth) vol. 4. It's a stand along Batman arc called the War of Jokes and Riddles. No previous series connections needed. Just a damn good Batman book. 👍 6y

I continue to be impressed by this series. This volume enters even darker territory, and I love how philosophical it is without being too heavy handed or preachy. It‘s a very thoughtful and heartbreaking story.

GrilledCheeseSamurai This was a great series! Tom King, the writer, is pretty much turning anything he touches I to gold right now. Guy is on fire! 🔥 7y

Here‘s the thing, it isn‘t easy being human. There is no magic elixir that can make you “get it” or help you understand it. All Vision wants is a family and a “normal” life only he doesn‘t really know what that means. When things start to go wrong, they go really wrong—lies & even murders become commonplace until the world itself is threatened. Good, thought-provoking story & excellent artwork. A fun & interesting read. (And a spectacular cover.)

The Vision Vol. 1 and 2 are both great stories. Different takes on the superhero genre and deeper-thought-provoking. Too bad we won't see anymore of these... but I still like how it ended.

Just amazing, comic like none other. Brings to light many difficult topics. I wonder if Tom King and the rest of the crew will come back with another comic for us, since we were left with many questions at the end. Sadly, this may be it since King has gone on to write for DC. 😔

Seventh and final graphic novel of the day! The resolution was surprisingly human and standard for a story about robot type beings.

Loved this fun, light-hearted moment in what was otherwise a very somber, impressive book. #litsyatoz #letterv

I just met the first person ever who had a face to face conversation with me about this series. It was, my friends, a beautiful thing.

Noooo! You can't end the issue like that. One month wait and I'm already bracing myself for the emotional devastation issue 12 will cause.
