Godmother: The Secret Cinderella Story | Carolyn Turgeon
9 posts | 9 read | 19 to read
Lil is an old woman who spends her days shelving rare books in a tiny Manhattan bookstore and lonely nights at home in her apartment. But Lil has an intriguing secret. Tucked and bound behind her back are white feathery wingsthe only key to who she once was: the fairy godmother responsible for getting Cinderella to the ball to unite with her Prince Charming. But on that fateful night, something went terribly and beautifully wrong. Lil allowed herself the unthinkable: to feel the emotions of human beings and fall in love with the prince herself, going to the ball in place of Cinderella in her exquisitely gorgeous human guise. For her unforgivable mistake, she was banished to live among humans, far from her fairy sisters and their magical underwater world. But then one day she meets Veronicaa young, fair-skinned, flame-haired East Village beauty with a love of all things vintage and a penchant for falling in love with the wrong menand suddenly it becomes clear to Lil that shes been given a chance at redemption. If she can find a soul mate for Veronica, she may right her wrong and return to the fairy world she so deeply longs for. . . . From the Trade Paperback edition.

🌟🌟I had to finish this one today because I just had to know how it ended. It started off pretty slow and the more the story went on I was super invested but I tell you the ending was such a let down! Like I get the direction she went with this book I just feel like why?? It was just sadness the whole book leading up to someone's happy ending and it got overlooked by the ending just being someone's ending- literally *throws book*

Kyndrill Yikes! It sounded so promising, but endings are important!☹️ 2y
Nutmegnc What a letdown! 2y
KateReadsYA @Kyndrill @Nutmegnc Yeah I'm not sad I read it because there were so beautiful ideas she brought to life but I just can't seem to understand why she ended it the way she did. 2y

This is my 3rd Carolyn Turgeon Book and from Pg. 1 I already feel like I'm there in the book itself. I really enjoy her writing style! August, books, and a bakery! *sips coffee* I'm in for a treat.

Kyndrill Lovely images! Added to my TBR😊 2y
KateReadsYA @Kyndrill thank you!!! 2y

This is way weirder than I thought it was going to be, honestly, but it‘s been in my house for like two years and was the next one in the pile of things I rescued from fiction-weeding and will as a result toss back into the library book sale bin when I‘m done. It‘s a quick read, I started it last night and am almost done, but it‘s nothing I‘ll recommend to people. 🤷🏻‍♀️ #godmother #carolynturgeon #reimaginedfairytales

actualdisneyprincess What the actual f was this. One-star. If I could have given it zero, I would have. 😑 2y

Pickpick

This book was not at all what I was expecting, but I found that I really enjoyed it. It was such an interesting perspective, in so many ways. And I like that it's open to interpretation. This book has many layers. In spite of the fairytale elements, it was surprisingly real.

Smangela I need to give this one a reread soon! I was just rearranging my bookshelves and thought about this one 7y
GypsyKat @Smangela It was interesting! 7y

This book isn't as lighthearted as I had expected it to be, but I'm enjoying it nonetheless, and I love this quote:

"Each human had so many selves, they said, and so much confusion. They do not know how to be who they are, who they were meant to be. That is how we help them."

Kindle, bottle of mineral water, and a cozy bed. This is exactly what I need. I don't know what it is about reading in bed at the end of the day, but there's just something peaceful and reassuring about it. 💗#ReadingInBed #GoodnightLitsy

Ah ha! I must have been confusing this one with Geekerela. Since I'm just looking for something cute and light at the moment, I think this will do just fine. 👍

LauraBrook I really liked this one when I read it a few years ago! Hope it fits the bill! 7y
GypsyKat @LauraBrook I like it so far! 😊 7y
