So far I‘ve mostly opted for family time over reading time, but I‘m finally getting in a little beach side reading today. ☺️

Decided earlier today to take another stab at this audiobook. I tried it last summer and never got past fifteen minutes. What I heard of the story was fine, but I couldn‘t stand the narrator. (Maybe it was because I was pregnant? 🤔😆) Now, I still don‘t love her but I can deal because the story so far is intriguing at least.

And incidentally, #CoverCrush Day 7!

An audio re-read. Even more enjoyable this time around since I knew which details and passages to pay attention to. I‘d forgotten quite how abrupt the ending was, though not necessarily in a bad way. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, every time.

Cracking open this TOME this evening. Picked it up on a whim at the library this morning, but it might be the exact book my husband and I have been looking for to buddy read while he is deployed!

Ps: I spy my new Litographs blanket! 😍

SauerPatch @AkashaVampie @OriginalCyn620 This is the only one I‘ve read so I can‘t really speak for his work as a whole. I loved this one because it was full of hilarious shenanigans and dialogue while never being directly irreverent (IMO) to a Christian reader. 2mo

For some reason I‘m still discovering, this year I‘ve had this unexplainable fixation on Mr. Rogers, so I ate up just about every word of this, although some parts get pretty deep into names and networking of that era of television. It gets somewhat repetitive with frequent reminders of names and details, but I can only assume that‘s for the sake of those reading bits and pieces. I‘ve never read many bios; perhaps that‘s standard?

In this little learning-to-read paperback, one of the parent chaperones sings an OLDIE called “Shine On Harvest Moon”. I am embarrassed to make this post but it was one that my then two-year-old had us read to him 7,167,843.5 times. So I know it well. 😂

For #LabourOfLove I wanted to do one related to childbirth. But then I thought, what about adoption? What higher act of love is there then to take a child to raise that isn‘t yours by blood? And of course, Valjean‘s sentence of however-many years of hard labor doesn‘t hurt either. 🙃

There‘s not a ton of reading time in my schedule, but one of my #ReadingGoals this month is to finish this one up. Although at first glance it‘s about disciplining my child‘s behavior, it definitely still falls under #SelfImprovementSept because at its heart, it‘s just as much about controlling MY reaction to challenging behavior.

Rereading this gem after a couple of years. I forgot how good Brown‘s writing is! This book holds such a special place in my heart; my husband and I co-read it (and the rest of the trilogy) during his first deployment in 2016 and it really helped bridge the distance and keep us close during those months apart. 💕

I‘m surprised by how good this turned out to be. The last several books prior have all had an episodic feel to them - the mis/adventures of the Frasers and Mackenzies - but this one‘s story arch felt a little more complete/rounded and had more resolution. (I may be wrong here though, I‘ve been listening for months and have lost track of some of the details.) Still, I was ready to take a break from the series but now I‘m itching to start the next!

Getting back into #audiostitching as I finish up this behemoth of an audiobook that I‘ve been chugging through for months. 🚂 (Don‘t be deceived; the Outlander series is my favorite series of all time. When I really like a book I race through it, but when I LOVE a book and it really resonates with me on some fundamental level, I inch through and make it last as long as possible. Thus, I‘ve been working on this series for 4.5 years.)

Its raining 🌧 all day, one babe is asleep 😴 and the other occupied with Paw Patrol, 🐾 so I‘m sitting down for a cozy reading sesh. ☺️ As a mom of two young children, I don‘t get many of these! (At least not during daylight. 😉) I‘m also a VERY slow reader, hence why I‘m still chugging away at a book I started probably two months ago. 😬

Despite my very lackluster response to the first book, I found after I finished that I couldn‘t stop thinking about it, so I gave the sequel a shot on the off chance it got better. It didn‘t. Too many characters and aspects of the story just fall flat for me. The characters, the plot, the world building... it‘s all either too much or not enough.

Mehso-so

I was so disappointed in this. It wasn‘t all bad, but my hopes were so high from all the good things I‘d heard. The male MC was decent, but the female was just too snarky and stubborn (read: annoying as hell) to even be believable. Similarly, Rhy is insufferably and thus unbelievably arrogant. Is it a YA novel, or an adult? because it has qualities of both. I have so many grievances against this book, I‘m not sure why I‘m even giving it a “so-so”.
