Book 12 - This is one of the nerdiest book ever written. It would be so exciting living in the mind of Douglas Adams. There are aliens, spaceship,a sofa stuck on a staircase,an electric monk. All the bizzare things one could imagine is in this book but it gives you such a rush,a sudden excitement when it all comes together,at the very end!!!
Once everything starts to come together, it's hard to put this one down

BOOK 10
Narrated by Death, this book is so unique that it is hard to put down.Although the backdrop is Nazi Germany but the book is about love for people, love for reading and writing, relationships. Its really well written and it was my first glimpse into the actual horrors of the time.Unsettling,thought-provoking,life-affirming,triumphant and tragic.Anyone who loves to read should definitely read it,old and young
alike.

DAB Well said.

BOOK 9
Non-fiction are hard to read but this one had such a powerful story that I could not down.It follows life of several people in a slum in Mumbai, India. What stunned me was the politics of power, even though life is an everyday struggle, people still vie for power. In your own everyday struggle, you don't think about these areas but reading it made me realize how insignificant some of my own problems were. Higly recommend it.

BOOK 8
Was there any doubt that this was not going to make d list?People can find d slow pace of d book distracting but I think its important because it gives time for d characters to grow on you.It has black magic, dragons, white walkers, most importantly it has very interesting characters backed by strong writing.
I geek out whenever I read about it, I have GOT tshirts, book sleeves, music box & I need the Jon Snow sword now🤪🤪🤪

BOOK 7
This book is more like poetry, it gives you one tragedy after another and underlying all this is raw human emotion of love, heartbreaks. It is filled with moments of overwhelming goodness, so touching, so beautiful.Valjean, Javert, Cosette, Marius and Fantine. I can't stress enough how exquisite this book is.I you haven't read it yet, do read it. I'll definitely re read it some time.

BOOK 5
This book is more than just about rape, its about right vs. wrong, fear vs. courage and the importance & limits of friendship & loyalty. This was a roller coaster of emotion,I cried,I smiled, felt angry. The story felt real. Each character was well defined, had depth, forced you to question your own morality. Backman gave wise insight into human experience. One of those books that will remain with u for a long long time.

Book 4 : Mystic River
This engaging book delves deep into dark corners of life. Marcus's grief & Boyle's childhood collide in devastating manner. The characters are deep & you feel sympathetic towards them. It presents some uncomfortable images & an unnerving finale. The writer leaves it to the reader to decide b/w right and wrong, never pushing you one way or the other, that's why I love it. It assumes that the reader knows best.

Book 3: Gone,Baby, Gone

This book leaves you with moral questions of right & wrong, social & individual responsibilities, something everyone struggles with everyday. The conflict b/w the 2 PIs on the fate of a 4 year child is most intriguing. The book is complex, serious and beautiful. This book moved me from YA to a more "adult" writing where characters are more developed, have a wider arc. This is a thrilling, gripping ride.

TiredLibrarian Ooh, I loved this book, and I wish Lehane would write more in the Kenzie & Gennaro series! Movie's not bad, either. 5y
Shamzi @TiredLibrarian yes, the movie was good too!! 5y
