“Honor set you on the kingsroad…and honor brought you back.”
“Honor set you on the kingsroad…and honor brought you back.”
“When will he be as he was?” Dany demanded.
“When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east,” said Mirri Maz Duur. “When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then he will return, and not before.”
“The man who trusts in spells is dueling with a glass sword.”
“Once I begin to sing, no one must enter this tent. My song will wake powers, old and dark. The dead will dance here this night. No living man must look on them.”
“So they will not love,” the old man answered, “for love is the bane of honor, the death of duty.”
“The cold winds are rising. Summer is at an end, and a winter is coming, such as the world has never seen.”
Winter is coming.
“When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground.”
“Do it yourself, Robert. The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword. Look her in the eyes before you kill her. See her tears, hear her last words. You owe her that much at least.”
Ned nodded. “The gods help this potboy if he‘s sent me off haring after shadows.”
“Dark wings, dark words,” Ned murmured. It was a proverb Old Nan had taught him as a boy.
“Fear is for the winter, my little lord, when the snows fall a hundred feet deep and the ice wind comes howling out of the north. Fear is for the long night, when the sun hides its face for years at a time, and little children are born and live and die all in darkness, while the wolves grow gaunt and hungry, and the white walkers move through the woods.”
“Let me tell you something about wolves, child. When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives. Summer is the time for squabbles. In winter, we must protect one another, keep each other warm, share our strengths.”
The dwarf lifted an eyebrow. “Would you rather be called the Imp? Let them see that their words can cut you, and you‘ll never be free of the mockery. If they want to give you a name, take it, make it your own. Then they can‘t hurt you with it anymore.”
“Well, I‘ll not press you if you feel so strong about it, though I swear, at times you‘re so prickly you ought to take the hedgehog as your sigil.”
“What, me, celibate? The whores would go begging from Dorne to Casterly Rock. No, I just want to stand on top of the Wall and piss off the edge of the world.”
“Let me give you some council, bastard,” Lannister said. “Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.”
Ned knew the saying. “What the king dreams,” he said, “the Hand builds.”
Some old wounds never truly heal, and bleed again at the slightest word.
It burns, it does. Nothing burns like the cold. But only for a while. Then it gets inside you and starts to fill you up, and after a while you don‘t have the strength to fight it.
“My mother told me that dead men sing no songs,” he put in.

April 26th #DynamicDs Divisive This show is very divisive. Loved the books and the TV show. @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

1. I never rewatch anything. Just like I don't re read books. I feel I shouldn't waste time when I can watch new stuff.
2. I loved skipping rope. I was very good at dolly Dutch.
3. Game of Thrones. Trying to stay alive is the game of life.

I did a thing last month and bought these collectors editions of the Game of Thrones series at Target! On sale for $59.99!

I just couldn‘t get into it. In the beginning I was enjoying it and it definitely was luring me in more than I anticipated but the story became rather monotonous and not very engaging. At moments the author became more verbose than was necessary for the development of the story. 300 pages in and bail. Better luck next time. 😊

Yup! #readingwesteros

Listened to the audiobook. I rated this book a 3 out of 5 stars.

Swamped in paperwork for my telework day. Have GoT running in the background and my Winter is Coming sweatshirt on.
Really hoping that as we go through #readingwesteros that Nymeria comes back in the books.

Though it's not about Game of Thrones (just needed a way to post this 😅), I'm currently developing a new book tracking app, BookBee.me, and I'm eager to get feedback and suggestions from fellow book lovers.
I'd really appreciate it if you could share your ideas and what features you'd love to see in an app like this.
Feel free to reach out 😁

I curled up in my fluffy blanket with my hubby and we made it a cozy movie night (long show..). Complete with popcorn, red vines, and noises cardboard contained hard candies. 🥰💛

Well, that pretty much killed my no book buying ban… lol. I‘ve just been loving these books so much I didn‘t want to keep reading the annoying library ebooks I had to keep checking out. I really love this set! I‘ve been going for the leather bound books a lot more lately. 🥰💛 #Readingwesteros #GOTChapteraday @5feet.of.fury

This was a reread that I throughly enjoyed again, although there are parts that still hurt. Tyrion is still the best 💛

There are dragons in the flames of my snow-covered fireplace. I'm pretty sure I'm the Mother of Dragons.

Finished this one for #gotchapteraday Fell way behind so tried catching up via audio and really enjoyed it. Will probably do the rest of the series this way.
@5feet.of.fury have you started the next one yet?

I forgot how little of the plot actually resolves. Dany‘s story moves distinctly from 1 phase to another… by far the most growth & impact on the overall story despite being an ocean away from the other characters.
#ReadingWesteros will start Clash of Kings 11/1!

Dany offers the slaves a place in the khalasar, she appoints Jhogo, Aggo &Rakharo as her blood riders but “it would shame them to ride for a woman” Ser Jorah is 1st of her Queensguard.
They‘ve made a pyre with Drogo‘s possessions to send him to the night lands. Dany adds her dragon eggs. & burns Mirri with him. Dany climbs into the pyre but the fire doesn‘t burn her. When the fire burns out they find Dany with 3 baby dragons & they swear loyalty.

This is a Re-Read for me. Obviously not quite as jaw-dropping after having read the series up to now, and watched the series, but still an astounding work. No tropes left unturned.

Cat, grieving Ned, goes to visit her father who is dying. The Lords strategize to join with Stannis or Renley. Cat calls for a truce, for peace. She still wants her daughters back. But others are focused on vengeance.
Then the Greatjon proclaims that any of those with claims to the throne don‘t have anything to do with the problems of the North & why should they follow any of them. They proclaim Robb The King in the North.

Jon attempt to desert the Wall & go to war alongside Robb to avenge their father. He wonders how he‘ll be received since deserters are usually beheaded, but feels it‘s the right thing to do. His friends come to bring him back, & he goes because he doesn‘t want them punished too. Lord Mormont is not surprised, asks again for his allegiance & says they are going beyond the Wall to find the truth about what is happening on the other side.

Tywin &Tyrion find out Jaime was captured. While arguing of the next steps, Tyrion advises‘ Robb will not concede after what Joffrey has done to Ned, & they lost any bargaining power with his death.
They have news that Renly Baratheon & Highgarden are coming for the crown.
Tywin is sending Tyrion to Kings Landing to reign in Joffrey. It appears he is giving up on Jaime & putting his attention on his other son.

Dany wakes from nightmares, finds Drogo lived &her son did not. Mirri tells her her son was born with lizard scales, changed when she came into the tent. Only death can pay for a life, Mirri hadn‘t meant the horse. The Khalasar is gone. Drogo is alive, but nothing more. Dany confronts Mirri. Mirri says that she saw her god‘s house burned, was raped, her neighbors killed. Dany had saved Mirri in the same way Mirri “saved” Drogo.
