I picked this up from the library and it is due back this weekend so getting a jumpstart on #CampLitsy25 I think this is going to be an interesting discussion. Fans of Mona Awad are going to like this. I enjoyed it, especially the later half, but I really like fever dream type books, those books you have to just keep reading and have faith something will flush out, even if that something is great language, which this definitely has.

ChaoticMissAdventures I thought this was a great book for #AAPI months also, with the discussions around the narrators struggling to get acting jobs and her own views on herself and how others see her. 3w
Ruthiella I thought of Awad too when reading it. It‘s hard to tell what‘s real. 3w
sarahbarnes Glad you liked it too! 3w
BarbaraBB @Ruthiella Exactly that! Too feverish for me! 3w

A powerful and moving teen graphic novel memoir about immigration, belonging, and how arts can save a life—perfect for fans of American Born Chinese and Hey, Kiddo.

For as long as she can remember, it‘s been Robin and her mom against the world. Growing up as the only child of a single mother in Seoul, Korea, wasn‘t always easy, but it has bonded them fiercely together.

Katsuyamas never quit—but seventeen-year-old CJ doesn‘t even know where to start. She‘s never lived up to her mom‘s type A ambition, and she‘s perfectly happy just helping her aunt, Hannah, at their family‘s flower shop.

She doesn‘t buy into Hannah‘s romantic ideas about flowers and their hidden meanings, but when it comes to arranging the perfect bouquet, CJ discovers a knack she never knew she had. A skill she might even be proud of.

Star-crossed lovers, meddling immortals, feigned identities, battles of wits, and dire warnings: these are the stuff of fairy tale, myth, and folklore that have drawn us in for centuries.

Happy AAPI MONTH!! Happy Spring.

I decided to do a book spin for this month to get out of my reading slump. I have a D20 dice, I listed books, book themes, and activities. I have some AAPI authors or protagonists in my bookspin to celebrate AAPI.

What are your AAPI recs?

What is everyone reading out there?

question for my DnD folks - what are some good DnD-themed or inspired books that you would recommend?

PuddleJumper One of my groups has a list of d&d type books or unhinged fantasy books. I've not read all of these.

'Classics' would be The Dark Elf Trilogy by R. A. Salvatore, Riftwar Cycle by Raymond E. Feist, The Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon, and Dragonlance by Margaret Weis

I recently picked up several random graphic novels at the library, including this one. Caroline can't stop thinking about the popular girl she has started tutoring at school and finds that they have more in common than she could imagine. I really enjoyed this. The character building is great and the art is beautiful. Their texting style reminded me of when my husband and I first started. #LGBTQIA #comics #AAPI

I'm not all that into superhero comics because they just don't interest me enough, but I do really enjoy the Marvel Voices collections. My favorite in this one was definitely the issue that reimagined several characters including Wolverine and Venom (and characters I don't know) in a Japanese mythology landscape. #comics #inclusive #AAPI

Wang explores many topics from friendship and strict parents to childhood illness and not being seen as Chinese enough or American enough. I really enjoyed exploring these topics through Christine's struggles as she navigates self expression, academics, friendship, and family to find where she belongs.

This was a difficult novel to read. It became more violent over time, but it is a novel about war. It was an interesting approach to the Vietnam War because all characters were flawed. It was impossible to determine who was right and who was wrong wich made the book more interesting. The story is told from the perspective of a Vietnamese refugee.#AAPI#vietnamwar#traumaticexperience#immigrantexperience
