The beginning of this year was such a bad reading slump for me! I finally feel like I‘m getting back into my reading groove. I am fascinated by the history of Hollywood and this book is not definitely not disappointing! It‘s amazing how truly small the industry is and all the machinations that go on behind the scenes. I‘ve always found Valley of the Dolls as a book and a movie to be such interesting examples of a moment in time.

Began this memoir as a Phantom of the Opera and Hello Dolly! super-fan, ended it as a Michael Crawford superfan.

One of Jimmy's first movies was the remake of Seventh Heaven in 1937. I never watched the original. As much as I love Wizard of Oz, my favorites are Katherine Hepburn's Jo in Little Women, Philadelphia Story (Jimmy won Oscar), and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington ❤️❤️❤️. I should've done better, but I only cared for Stewart, Hepburn, or Grant.

MemoirsForMe I saw 14, probably because my mom loved all those Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers musicals…and my husband loves Errol Flynn. I‘m also a big fan of Kate Hepburn and The Philadelphia Story. Boys Town and Lost Horizon are big faves too. 3w

lauraisntwilder 4. I had no idea there was a version of Romeo and Juliet starring Leslie Howard and Norma Shearer. I can't decide if that sounds amazing or terrible! 3w

dabbe @lauraisntwilder I think they were in their 30s when they filmed it, so a little terrible on my end! 🤣 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚🩶🩶 3w

dabbe Oh, I know this pic well! It's from the 1980s Grammys when they both sang “You Don't Bring Me Flowers“, which also qualifies as a major #loveontherocks song! They brought the house down! If you haven't seen it, it's on youtube. I adore Babs & Neil! 🩶💚🩶 1mo
Eggs Oh yesss! Just thinking about them singing that song gives me goosebumps 1mo
marleed If I think of Grammy performances, you don‘t bring me roses is what immediately comes to mind. It was the water cooler talk of the day! 1mo

Good biography. He created one of the greatest characters in television history and an ignominious ending of a career. He addresses it all. Some good stories mixed in.

I love the body positivity and the relatability of Solomon‘s characters. This was a quick, fun read with realistic mental health representation.
