Next on my list is Grand Days in honour of Frank Moorhouse who recently died. An Australian must read… some say a masterpiece…it‘s been one I should have read years ago! It‘s a chunkster @ 700 pages😊

This is where I finished reading this #australianclassic today 😍. Patrick White requires your full attention and I‘m glad I was able to give it. Profound, lyrical, epic, it traverses life from birth to death of Stan Parker.
This is my second White and I was interested to see (from my Litsy review) that I finished my first, Eye of the Storm, on holiday in this very location 2 years ago 🤔. Hard work but worth the effort. 🙏🏻❤️ #ozfiction
And this is why I will persist with this challenging, dense tome. Because I read a section like this and sigh. So evocative, beautiful, satisfying. I find Patrick White‘s writing exquisite. ❤️❤️❤️ #currentlyreading #ozfiction #australianclassic
Making a start on this 1955 #australianclassic recommended by author Christos Tsiolkas, who has written a book on White‘s work. I have read one other Patrick White, The Eye of the Storm, which I absolutely adored.
The first page introduces us to the main character, his dog and his horse, so this photo of the book with my dog Rusty (the blur of fur in the background) seems appropriate. Wish me luck with this tome. #ozfiction🤞🍀
“‘Brilliant but unstable‘, he said again, and I pictured myself as a spluttering, green firework.”
Oh Lillian 🥰😢❤️. What a debut for Kate Grenville. I found this challenging to comprehend at times & wonder whether it was intentional, in that it depicts the mind of Lillian, the first person narrator 🤔.
I‘m pleased to have read this 1984 #Australianclassic that I borrowed from my mum‘s shelves many years ago. 🙏🏻 #ozfiction
First read for 2018. Have been meaning to read this for ever.

When I was first thinking about how to pay tribute to Helen Garner's birthday, I wondered if I could emulate any aspects of her semi-autobiographical novels. I decided against moving into a share house with my daughter and falling in love with a heroin addict. Nevertheless, this 1977 #australianclassic is worth a read. For the Aussies amongst you, yes this is a photo of Noni from Playschool, who played Nora in the 1982 film adaptation 😀.
