At times emotional, other times cross! The tale of a man walking through the out back, working as and when, sleeping anywhere and encountering dubious but interesting folk. Whilst bringing his young daughter with him... the ending was brilliant!
I enjoyed it and glad ivecread it. Might be tempted By the film...

Sticking with the Aussie theme...
Chose this partly because it has hints of The Road.in it, the idea of man and child walking continuously. Also because the publisher is very local and independent. I browse their shop and attended a book spa there ☺☺☺😊😊😊

LiteraryinLawrence Oooh, what‘s a book spa? It sounds delightful. 4y
rachaich @LiteraryinLititz it's sublime. Two hours of chatting about books to a book seller. They then go and select books they think you'll like and you browse whilst eating cake and drinking coffee. Then you choose £50 of books to take home 😍😍😍🍰☕📖. 4y

This book was published in 1985 so it's a bit dated now, but still a good resource and full of lovely pictures relating to the books and authors. #AugustIsATrip #Australia

Trying some caramel cheddar corn. Was skeptical about the combo, but it's good! 😋 As is this book so far.

booksandsympathy I don't usually eat caramel corn because it's just too sticky sweet, but I love this combo. 6y

Detach the perforated book mark from the cover? Or not?

Sophoclessweetheart Oh! What a wonderful idea! Love it x 6y
TrishB I do - but then only use for that book! 6y
LeahBergen That‘s a tough question! 😬 6y

Big congratulations @MrsMalaprop on your Litsy milestone! 🎊👏 thank you for the #ozfictiongiveaway Loving your idea of promoting & celebrating Australian lit #ozfiction
I was thinking of either The Strays or The Lake House (Morton), both have been on my wishlist. Finally decided on Emily Bitto‘s debut -partly because Atonement is one of my favourite books of all time; and because I remember you and @Kalalalatja gave a strong pick for the book. 💕

Kalalalatja The Strays was great! 6y
MrsMalaprop Excellent choice. Thanks for your entry 😊. 6y

It‘s time for an #ozfictiongiveaway to celebrate me reaching this Litsy milestone.
Tell me what Australian fiction you‘d love to read & why. Tag the book and post using #ozfictiongiveaway @MrsMalaprop .
If you need ideas, I‘ve been using the #ozfiction hashtag when I post about Australian fiction, but don‘t be limited by that if there‘s another novel you‘re dying to read.
Entries close 25 May. I‘ll pick three winners. Open internationally. 📚🇦🇺

CarolynM Congratulations on your milestone. Your giveaway is a great way to promote oz literature, hope you get lots of interest. 6y

#OldCoolBooks #collectorsedition

I was presented with this illustrated book of short stories at my high school graduation in 1988. It‘s precious rather than collectible because I received it for getting the top mark in English. The inscriptions from my English and English Literature teachers make it precious to me too.

Bklover Beautiful and very special!💕 6y
Linsy How wonderful! Inscriptions remind us how loved we are. ♥️♥️♥️ 6y
ReadZenRites It‘s beautiful. That artwork!💕 Happy 30th high school graduation anniversary. it‘s mine as well! 😁. Yay Class 1988 😆 6y
